It really is happening.
Mr Goldie handed his letter to his boss today to confirm that he'll be leaving on 18th December!
I'm waiting to feel  but it hasn't happened, which indicates it really is the right thing to do
As it's a small firm, he wanted to give them plenty of notice, so they can get someone new.
I mentioned to my team leader a couple of months ago that I was thinking of leaving within a year or so. I've got my next 1 -2 -1 meeting at the start of September, so I'll tell her informally that I intend to leave on 18th December, but I won't have to do it in writing until November.
I most feel relief that we are really going to do it!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Happy anniversary! :T xx
Thank you!
We've been very quiet this evening, though, as we are zonked from work.
Still no cold feet about Mr Goldie's actions yesterday, so it's definitely the right thing for us.

Congratulations for your anniversary and for Mr. Goldie's decisive action, your turn next!
You've done so well with the trial of pension income and being so nifty, thrifty and imaginative about still enjoying life on a reduced income, which I'm sure will also be contributing to the lack of  and an underlying sense of :T.

Congratulations on all levels :j, how exciting for both of you :T.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thank you for your support Hbbb and GG!
You've done so well with the trial of pension income
I'm really pleased with how things have gone this year with the experiment - it's given me the confidence to proceed
Although this month will end up outrageously spendy!
During the week, I thought I'd use this weekend's M&S 20% off voucher for a couple of tops.
But I decided against it :T
One of the first things I intend to do next year is too thoroughly go through my wardrobe, and get rid of everything that isn't suitable for my new life. Even though I've done regular de-clutters, there are still things I haven't worn for 2 -3 years and / or doesn't fit, or no longer 'right'
The idea is, once everything has been pared down, I'll be able to see what I really need .
However......
I did make a purchase - a new handbag !
My current day to day handbag has been in service for many years. It's a nice leather bag, but very tired now, and the zip is beginning to wear out.
I've been admiring my new bag for months, thinking it'll be ideal for me. It can be worn cross body, which I like. Most cross body bags have the opening on the shorter side of the rectangle, but this one opens on the longer side, so it's easier to get things out and to rummage around. Tag price is £69, but I got it for £54 with my voucher. This bag will be used for years on a regular basis, so it's a really good investment buy
Mr GG will also be re-organising his wardrobe, but he got a polo shirt, also reduced by 20%, but I know he has a lot of t shirts that will be going - some are 20 years old !:rotfl:
I've done an epic online shop to be delivered on Monday. I could have waited another week, but I'm now keen to be getting my stocks topped up for toiletries etc, to give us a head start on our budgeting next year.
This month will be mega for grocery shopping, as there will be 2 big shops in the month. But it will average out over the year.
8 things have sold on ebay - 6 of them are re-lists which was pleasing. One of the items sold is for collection - hopefully they'll be in contact soon.
We have friends visiting for lunch tomorrow. Although I enjoy cooking when it's just the two of us, I'm a bit nervous of cooking for other people, so I keep it pretty simple. The female half of the couple that is visiting doesn't eat meat, but she does eat fish, so we'll have salmon. I've tried assorted fish pies in the past, and fish in sauce, but this will just be fairly plain, baked in the oven.
Have a good evening, everyone:)Early retired - 18th December 2014

Congratulations on the leaving dates, exciting times for you both.
Hope the salmon is behaving itself and cooking in an appropriate manner
