Hi gg,
Just read through all your thread, hope you get your ear sorted soon. That can't be very pleasant at all
Only one more year till you retire, that is brill news and I think it is a really good idea you are sticking to your pension funds now to get used to it.
Pension is a frightening word for me as according to my projected forecast, I will receive £685 per month to live on if I retire at 60 which is now 12 yrs away. I will definitely not be able to manage on this so how I will cope, I have no idea. My aim at present is to get rid of my mortgage in the next 12 years because if I still have this to pay ........ well ....... you can see what the result will be.
Anyway, keep up your good work0 -
Just been reading your thread, well done and hope you feel better. I get the odd bout of 'buzzy ear' but haven't been to docs about it.
I'm a Kent girl too, I live near Margate, pop in for a cuppa all!Carolbee0 -
Hello everyone, thanks for dropping by.
Ear-wise, things are have been a lot better today - the noise is at 'low hiss' level, which is manageable. As pink poppy says, 'masking techniques' are one of the ways to help deal it the ear noise. At nights, I've always had a fan on, and now this is helping for any noise I might hear during the night. Yesterday, when the noise was bad, I had my iPad on, playing music that I find calming.
For the next few days, I'll take it one day at a time, and see about another doctors appointment next week.
It's back to work tomorrow, so I'm having a fairly relaxed day today.
We went to the garden centre this morning, and got a few things, including one of those net tunnel things to keep the birds off our strawberries. Sometimes, I think it might be cheaper just to buy fruit and veg from the shops, but heating your own produce is high on the 'simple pleasures' scale, so I think it's worth paying some money for this. Likewise with flowers, whether they are grown from seed or young plants. It's lovely to see flowers in the garden in the summer, again a simple pleasure.
This afternoon I'm going to make some small sponge puddings to go in the freezer, for Sunday lunch desserts, but apart from that, I intend to relax for the rest of the day.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Just popping by to catch up and to send best wishes regarding the ear noise - it must be very annoying.
My mum suffers with this, but I am not sure if she has any coping techniques - I will ask her.

Home grown produce is great, composting etc. are also really good for your garden and the environment. Living in a flat, I'm always very guilty of the peelings that go straight to landfill! :eek:0

I am really surprised at how many people have this problem, it's more common that I ever imagined. I'm very interested to hear how people manage on a day to day basis, especially on the bad days. Today has been a good day, and I've hardly noticed it. I'm at work for the next couple of days, so I'm hoping it'll be ok tomorrow.Living in a flat, I'm always very guilty of the peelings that go straight to landfill!
I must admit, anything that I put in recycling makes me feel very virtuous!
This afternoon wasn't as relaxing as I thought. After I'd made the little puddings, loaded up the breadmaker twice, cut Mr Goldie's hair and did chicken and chorizo stew for dinner, I sat down for just 30 minutes.
I'm just going to get my things out ready for work, then settle down with my book, and now doubt sofa internet surfing courtesy of my iPadEarly retired - 18th December 2014

That's my two days of work over for another week. It always goes very quickly, as it's so busy.
These days I feel quite detached about my working life.
When I worked full time, it was such a big part of my life, I had been there years, and many of my friends also worked at the same place.
But now, I just go there, do what I need to do to the best of my ability and come home, and that's it. I won't think about it again until next Wednesday evening. I like the people that I work with, but I'm not close to them, and as I don't intend to work there for the long term, it all adds to the sense of detachment.
Nothing else to report except my ear has been at low hiss level since Tuesday afternoon. Also, it doesn't feel as blocked or closed. I feel cautiously optimistic at the momentEarly retired - 18th December 2014

This has been an eBay weekend ( again), but the last of the really big eBay weekends.
After last week's relisting frenzy, I have sold 21 items this weekend, and maybe a couple more will go tomorrow and Tuesday.
A lot of the things that have sold are postcards so they are very easy to pack, otherwise the packing would take ages.
I could have done more re-listing this weekend, but I'm getting fed up with it, so have decided 'no more'!
I've been concentrating on the LPs and postcards so much that my jigsaws have built up.
We do quite a lot of jigsaws, bought and sold on eBay. The proceeds are used to buy more jigsaws, so we try to be 'jigsaw neutral'
I'll list 3 - 4 jigsaws later, and will do the same for he next few weekends.
I've also started to get together the things I'll be listing in bulk lots. So at the moment, I'm surrounded in jigsaws, LP's and DVD's. And I haven't even started to sort the postcards into bulk lots. If I can clear most things in the next month or so, that'll leave me clear before I go on holiday.
But apart from eBay, I haven't done anything else, apart from doing a bit of work on Mr Goldie's family tree. He never knew his grandparents as they died before he was born, so I've ordered death certificates for them. A few years ago, when I was doing work on my family tree I used to order a lot of certificates, but they are now £9.25 each, so I won't be ordering many moreEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Your eBaying is so impressive. My pile is still waiting to be listed, I still have every intention of doing it (even more so when I see posts like yours!), will try and take pics soon... thank you for the motivation!0

I've got to the point where I'm quite fed up with eBaying, so my only motivation is to get the bulk of it done, so I can spend time doing something else instead - it's become a real chore recently!Early retired - 18th December 2014
