Best of luck with the postcards, it might take you a while if you're only planning on using eBay's now 20 free listings per month?0 -
Glad to hear you've got a consultant appointment, Goldie. Hopefully they'll be able to sort things out for you and give you a lot better advice, which if anything, will help ease the stress not knowing what's going on.
My own ears went mad over the weekend, looks like I'll also be knocking on the doc's door about it too.
Well done on keeping eBay going, I've got a load of stuff here I wanted to put on but I just can't bring myself to do it.a penny picker upper. Now I've looked at the remaining cards, it looks closer to 2000 left!
It's my own fault. Over the years I've bought boxes of cards from vintage fairs and car boots, plus eBay. I love history, and the cards are interesting to show how places have changed, not to mention how people dressed and traffic on the roads. I also like the messages on the back. 100 years ago people used postcards in the same way we use text messages today, and you get an interesting little snap shot of their lives.
I'm keeping the cards I really like, and I've already sold individually the most interesting ones. Generally, cards from smaller towns and villages do best, as do cards with street scenes, populated with lots of cars and people. Most cards will go for between £1 to £4, but I have sold a few at £20 and one at £35 !!
It shouldn't take too long to sell off the remainder. I'll use my 20 free listing allowance and and free listing weekends.
I've put together 10 x 100 card lots of nice cards with views of British towns and cities.
The rest are the really boring ones, like the inside of churches, mountain scenery (one mountain looks much like another) and museum exhibits. So they can go together in one big lot - maybe someone will be interested.
I have a feeling that, if I found an interesting box of cards I'd probably buy them and start again. It's the excitement of what you might find - might be a card from my home town, or even a card written by a relative!
PM - sorry to hear that your ears are giving you trouble as well. There seems to be a lot of us suffering at the moment:(Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hi Goldie
What a coincidence, it it 21 years ago today that I moved into my house!
I toy with the idea of moving, and maybe when DD2 goes to University, I might just do that. I find the house a bit too big to cope with, and I only really took it on when I divorced to nminimise the upheaval (emotional and physical) to my kids.
I would have preferred a clean start. Still, we are where we are.
I still have loads of vintage clothes which I really should sell. I don't think I will ever wear them again. All from the 40's and 50's. I just can't summon up the enthusiasm.
Glad to hear that your ear problem seems a little better."Carpe Diem"

Perhaps it'd be worth seeing if there is a vintage shop in your area that would buy them from you? At least it'd get it done without all the eBay photographing and listing
Yesterday, when I turned to oven on, the over light bulb blew. I've sourced two replacement bulbs on eBay at less than half the price of one from the AEG website, so a good result there.
Not so good is that there was some water under the washing machine this morning.
Sometimes the fabric conditioner drawer gunges up, but we only cleared that a couple of weeks ago. Could be the water drainage pipe - that has blocked before now. Or could be the washing machine. We do have a service agreement, but I hate phoning for a visit. The system uses a lot of voice recognition technology, and it never understands what I say. :rotfl:
I'll have to keep a look out, and see if it keeps happening

Should be quite a nice day today.
I'm having my hair cut, so that means a good gossip with my hair dresser and then later I'm seeing my friend, so that means I'll have another good gossip.
I'm just going to go out for a walk now, and will then potter around between the hair appointment and seeing my friend.
Quite a relaxed sort of day:)Early retired - 18th December 2014

I hope so, it's been really nice today!
I remembered that I had to pick up my referral letter from the doctors, so I drove to the surgery, parked up, and did my walk round the roads nearby. It's a nice area, so it was fun looking at all the big houses.
I had my good gossips with my hairdresser and my friend.
My friend has given me some things to eBay on her behalf. We have an arrangement where we go 50/50 on the proceeds of sales. I was thinking of doing less eBaying, but I don't mind doing this for her, as she has some lovely clothes and they always sell well. I hope it's free listing at the weekend.
My pension and Mr Goldie's salary has gone into our bank account today, so a new month has started. I'll wait until the credit card bills are in to do the final figures, but it's looking like it'll be a good month. We should be well within budget on all areas.
Today has been spendy, what with my haircut, coffees and a toasted sandwich. Also, my hairdresser recommended two slow cooker cookery books for £8 in Sainsb's so I also bought those as well.
We've got a couple of days out in the coming month, so likely to be quite a spendy month. I'll carry forward the surplus from the previous month to cover any overspending.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hello,
On the subject of ears, I went back to the doctor and he says it will take six weeks for mine to return to normal! Hope you can have a swifter resolution.
Sounds like a good couple of days. All the best,

Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Six weeks? That's a long time. It's frustrating not being able to catch everything that's said to you. I find it difficult when there's a lot of background noise.
I'm beginning to think my problems might be long term. I think I'm quite deaf in my right ear - I'm eager to get to the doc's on Saturday, just want to know what's going on really.Early retired - 18th December 2014
