Hi RT, I unsubscribed from QVC emails so I wasn't tempted anymore!

Unsubscribing - why didn't I think of that? If I had done the same I wouldn't have today's TSV (Dyson DC35) in my basket right now  ;)

Hi Janey good to see you again :)

Although I love not having to think of work any more, retirement is still a big concept. At the moment I feel as if I'm on some sort of extended holiday!

It's strange how things just spontaneously jump into your basket like that! :rotfl:

We had a very nice time in Brighton yesterday.

The description of the coach trip suggested a 2.30 performance of the show, with time to get a coffee before hand.

In the event, it was actually a 4pm show, so we had more free time in Brighton than we thought.

Fortunately, the weather was good, so we had a long walk along the front and round The Lanes.

The show itself was brilliant, and they had a couple of male aerial gymnasts who had to be seen to be believed.

We did our best to keep spending down. We had taken some snacks - some of the shortbread that I made, a banana each and a packet of crisps each (M&S unsalted:T) plus a bottle of water.

If we'd known that it was going to be a longer day than we originally thought, we'd have taken more food. As it was we spent £14.00 on additional coffees and a cake.

But if we hadn't have taken our food, we'd have probably had a fish and chip lunch too, so we saved some money

Also said no to a programme (£9.50 for a programme!) and half time ice cream.

We do intend to take our food with us for our days out, but I think we'll always end up having at least one coffee in a cafe - because it's nice and I like the people watching too.

Today I've joined a couple of cinema loyalty clubs, as I think we'll be going a bit more often. There's a must see film (for me at least) coming out in a few weeks, so I want to be ready for when we see it. It stars my two favourite actors, Johnny Depp and Ewan MacGregor. I saw it advertised on the side of a bus in Brighton, and got so excited about it people started looking at me!

One item de - cluttered today - a tea cosy, unused for about 20 years

I've listed a couple of items on eBay, but it was a frustrating experience. I use the advanced listing tool, and it was glitchy - it wouldn't let me accept Paypal as a method of payment. As accepting paypal is mandatory, I couldn't get anywhere at all. I switched to the basic lister, and that worked, but I'm fed up with it now, so I'm not going to list the third item I had. Will save that for another day

Glad you enjoyed the ice show and pootling about Brighton, Goldie. The food/drink compromise you describe is what I do - I want hot drinks, I want to be able to sit in a cafe, but I also want my own food, so I take food and buy drinks.

Well done on not buying the programme, *such* a lot of money!

I never buy programmes - they just add to the general clutter! But I've found that people are actually really kind and someone sitting near me will always lend me theirs if I desperately want to look something up - or will look it up for me :) A smile and a nice ask seems to do the trick every time.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
