I'm loving the sound of this, Goldie - getting that real retired feeling and all your rightful TV channels, *and* deciding to go with the fair offer for the car from the big firm - thats a great idea, from what I've read on here with people selling *or* buying privately, there's a lot of ways to get messed around.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Do let us know how you get on with selling the car, I have always wondered if they were a good deal.
Have a nice evening,

Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Hi Goldie it is all sounding really great, well done on the EBaying, absolutely brilliant. Your new life looks like it is coming together well.0

It's official, I know I've retired, I've been awarded my early retirement badge by MSE!:TSecret_Saving_Squirrel wrote: »Do let us know how you get on with selling the car, I have always wondered if they were a good deal

So far, I'm impressed. We put the car details in to their website, and they came back with their offer, which was more or less what we would get if we part exchanged it. So it seemed a fair price.
We accepted the offer, then we went through to a screen to book our appointment, and we got an email in reply to confirm the documents we'd need to take with us.
Shortly afterward they phoned to confirm the arrangements.
So far, so good. Just one thing to mention, we have to pay £49.99 to sell it to them, but I expect that'll be deducted from the car price.
I'll let you know what happens next.
As Toots and KC said, this week it seems to be coming together, it's real, and I'm so happy that we decided to take this step.

Congratulations on the MSE badgeMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Congratulations on the MSE badge
Thank you
Although we are slightly less virtuous on the MSE front today.
We did our first weekly shop today. I was fully intending to try Asda, Morrisons or Aldi, but when push came to shove, neither of us was that keen on the idea of having to go to different town for our groceries when there is a Sainsbury's within a couple of minutes drive.
So we went to Sainsbury's instead.:o
One of the things I've said, right from the beginning, was that I wanted to build a sustainable lifestyle, and even if we do try other supermarkets I think we'd end up at Sainsbury's just for the convenience of it all.
But by careful weekly shopping, we should be able to eliminate too many top-ups at M&S, and I hereby undertake to use Asda Online the next time I want to do a restock type of shop.
I'm still hopeful that we'll shave a bit more off the groceries bill this year
While we were out, we did go into M&S, but only for a free coffee :A
De-cluttering continues - I'm up to 40 now. Various eclectic items have gone, such as a couple of eBay items, old make up bags, MS Excel guide book, heavily logoed by my previous, previous employer, and 'women's things' that I haven't needed for more than a year, so I shouldn't need them anymore!!
One of the eBay items was 4 mugs, so I've also been able to reduce my packaging stash a little.
We have chicken soup for dinner this evening, made with the remains of the Sunday's roast chicken. We also have home made rolls. When I was at work we tended to have soup on my 2 working days as it was nice and easy. I intend to carry on having two soup or veggie days a week, for cost and health reasons.
Shortly, I'm going to have an attempt at homemade mayonnaise. It's a Hairy Bikers recipe, and is meant to be fooll proof ....... we shall see!Early retired - 18th December 2014
