Probably just needs to do another update :) Ours often loses channels when it updates- but - then finds them again next time around.

Hope someone with knowledge pops along to answer on the board though.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • When I started work ( for the Times newspaper) I was paid weekly in cash and had to collect it from the cash office on Friday morning in a brown envelope. It was very easy to budget but my needs were small then. They began with taking the envelope to the pub on Friday lunchtime.
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

I think life in general was so much simpler back then - sometimes when we needed the manager to sign letters, we'd have to take them to him in the pub next door!

We've tried a factory reset, but that hasn't worked, so I've emailed the maker's support people, so I'll wait an see what sort of reply we get.

But I suspect you are right Watty - it's just one of those things that happen.

We've spent too much time faffing around with it today, it's gone 4 o'clock and I feel like I've done nothing, and as a result, feel rather tetchy!:rotfl:

Oh I definitely agree with that last bit! And it happens in particular with new technology ... this computer sat in the box for about 3 months before I could bear to go through the faff of getting it up and running :o and the universe has given you a big tick in the column of "retired" but the column of "and everything's perfect" is blank for you just like it is for the rest of us :rotfl:

    Yes, technology never goes perfectly.

I'm normally of the opinion if it's working then don't mess around with it. On that basis I always dislike doing updates - I wish I'd said no to the freeview update, it was fine before that!

But, on the plus side we can watch TV, and I can't tell the difference between HD and normal, although Mr Goldie says he can. We'll see what Panasonic have to say, but we aren't going to spend hours on it.

I don't want to spend my retirement messing around with things that annoy me - that's not living simply at all!

On a happier note, I've sold 4 things on eBay which brings my decluttering total to 32. I've also sold something on behalf of my friend, so, including my percentage of her sale, I've been able to generate a net sum of £34.49, which is pleasing.

So I've achieved something today after all :T

  • Now that the festivities are truly over, the retirement will seem real. Have a great week!

Have you tried switching off at the plug, and then switching everything back on again. This sometimes works;)

You are right, it feels more real today. In most respects I've spent today just like I've been spending Mondays for the last 5 years - an eBay parcel run and housework. (I thought I'd better do some housework, as I haven't really done much since before our holiday) But, normally on Mondays I had that, oh work at the week feeling, and I haven't got that any more. Therefore, I feel so much more relaxed
    :)

    Hi, Iris, thanks for posting:)

We have managed to sort this out now, This morning, when we switched on, it said there were more channels available, so we did a rescan, but the HD channels still didn't come up, nor did normal BBC1!

So we started fiddling about with the way the aerial wire is attached to the box, did another scan, and BBC1 came back, plus all the HD channels :T

So now we daren't move the box ever again in case the aerial wire moves slightly:rotfl:

In money news, we have made an appointment with We Buy Any Car for Thursday morning, to sell Mr Goldie's car to them. They have made what we feel is a very fair offer, so have decided to go with them rather than try to sell the car ourselves. In the past when we sold a car privately we got messed around with, so we just want convenience and quickness now.

I've sold an item on eBay this morning and have an auction ending this evening that'll sell.

So there'll be a couple more things leaving the house. Mr Goldie decluttered the last of his work paperwork this morning, and I will find a random item to de-clutter later, to keep the momentum up.
