Still looks a shady outfit to me. For instance, there are no names of Directors on their website.0

Like many others on here I took out membership for£12 last July in order to open an ISA.
The 12 months are nearly up I wonder whether this" born again" shower will have the nerve to ask if I would like to re-new this year.0 -
I've received a reply from Virgin Money saying they will not yet accept the FSCS cheque as an ISA transfer, as they are waiting for legal and regulatory advice. I hadn't realised that the FSCS and its processes were held in such distrust by the banking community!0

Well less than a week after I went to Natwest branch in Bristol with the cheque, statement and FAQs, the money seems to have been credited to my account with the description "Enterprise".
Good show Natwest. (As long as the money doesn't disappear again of course! )0 -
Congratulations to those who have had their cheuqes accepted by Nationwide. For me, the farce continues.
I've just called my local branch and informed the manager of the updates I've seen on this thread and they've said they haven't received any communication from HQ. Nothing about interest back-dating, acceptance of cheques or opening of ISA accounts without deposits. Nothing. As far as they're aware, HQ are still waiting to hear from HMRC!
I did mention that the Sunday Times wrote a piece on EBCU and the manager said perhaps I should work for Nationwide since I'm so well informed!
I have been assured that whatever everyone else has got, I will get the same. So it's a case of waiting and see.
I had considered Skipton, but I wanted the rate plus flexibility to move without the penalties.0 -
Honest, whw, get on to the Sunday Times and let them sort it for you. They know all the background, and they know who to speak to in Nationwide.0

I had an existing ISA with Coventry BS, so last week I sent off the FSCS cheque plus copies of the closing EBCU statements together with an application form for a new non-ISA account to credit the extra £5 into, and an authority to bank the cheque into the new account first then do a transfer to the ISA, if it wasn't possible to split a cheque deposit between two accounts.
According to the balances reported by telephone banking last night, my existing ISA has been credited with the ex-EBCU ISA balance correctly.
The cheque was over the annual ISA limit so they have definitely not treated it as a current year subscription.
Full marks to Coventry Building Society. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

whw - I popped back into my branch in London today to see how things were getting on. Whilst the account has not yet been opened, they called through to the Central ISA team who had received all the paperwork and told the branch employee that it would all be credited tomorrow (apparently!).
This did take two phonecalls (largely because of the branch employee not quite understanding what I was asking), but the first call did reveal that they are anticipating these "transfers" to take longer than the advised 7-10 days. Whilst it did take two calls - the branch knew exactly who to call and they seemed well informed - there is a named contact within the ISA team who is dealing with this apparently. I think his name is Simon - however, if you ask your branch to speak to mine (the same one I PM'd you about and ask to speak to Jade - she has his details). HTH!0 -

This is very strange, as Virgin Money accepted my cheque last week, and it's now showing in my ISA account as cleared funds. The value of the cheque was over the annual ISA limit so they have definitely followed the procedure to credit my account outside of the annual ISA allowance.
Maybe the banks are getting a bit twitchy due to all us former DotCon customers with FSCS cheques.0 -
Had an appointment with RBS on Thursday.
No problems. They said they had done it before.
Account appeared online the next day and cheque appeared to be deposited soon after.
Deposit on the statement is labelled "FSCS"0
