New cheque finally paid into Santander ISA and interest due to be backdated to 15th May. Sorted.

Anyone who's done an ISA transfer to Nationwide, out of interest - does anything relating to interest backdating get shown in the transactions or not?

Mine at Nationwide has been backdated to my first attempt to give them my FSCS cheque, May 19th. As they are paying me compensation for messing me about, and my nerves are still in recovery mode, I won't argue about an extra 3 or 4 days interest.

Well done to get Santa to credit your cheque on the 15th. Did they offer you something extra for the hassle? Hope they did, because they should have.

£40 for all the aggro of losing the first cheque (namely, phonecalls, branch visits and inconvenience of not having access to the funds in the meantime) + the backdated interest (which is due to be adjusted tomorrow and I'll be watching the account like a hawk to make sure it happens!).

They managed to credit the replacement cheque in the branch via liaising with an ISA team manager on the phone who adjusted the ISA allowance temporarily to allow the cheque to go in. The branch manager and this ISA team manager were both aware of the situation and full credit to them for swiftly and efficiently sorting it out this time.

Check your e-mail and bank accounts. This morning I got an e-mail from a company called GoCardless to say on the 15th they will be taking a direct debit of £12 from both me and the other half for our membership of DotCon. I rang the bank, and the DD's are set up for next Monday.
    These have now been cancelled

I did pay that membership fee but I think it was by cheque or bank transfer (not sure without going into my Dotcon files). I haven't had a renewal email but if they did try to take any money, I'd notice and reclaim it.

Should be interesting to see how long it will be before they offer some credit union services again as they seem to have managed to lay the entire blame at the doors of the EBCU. They may well outwit the FCA/PRA once more by re-emerging with some other trading name they choose to register under, or with some other deal they strike with a credit union we haven't yet heard of, or with some other devious deal none of us could even imagine.

That sounds good, and it's great they managed to handle your cheque in branch this time round. Why oh why they couldn't have done this first time round is another Q - - -

I blame the FSCS for seemingly not having any process for informing ISA providers that people will be entitled to deposit exceptional funds into their ISAs, and how ISA providers would recognise such funds as legit. Of course FSCS can try and hide behind "this is exceptional blah blah" (as they have indeed tried to do) but the whole point about the FSCS is that they are dealing with exceptional situations.

Leeds seem to have accepted my personal cheque and backdated it to the date I wrote on it rather than the (later) date of receipt. Wish I'd dated it a little earlier now!

I'm still waiting a cheque from FSCS for my fathers ISA settlement...
They requested the original POA form despite the fact that I had shown it to EBCU when opening the account. 3 emails and 2 phone messages I have left at FSCS and still nothing!

I'm finally pleased to report Nationwide have sorted out my ISA.

I popped into branch on Saturday 6th with everything. I was told it'd be sent throguh to HQ on Monday. I received a call on Thursday 11th confirming receipt and what I wanted to do with the £5 - well, add it to my current account please. And today, I can see my ISA issue 9 was opened on the 11th, with the cheque amount listed as credit on the 26th May (when I first went into branch), £5 deducted and the paid in amount reset to £0 so it doesn't appear to have affected my ISA subscription for this year.

Phew! I really am glad it's all been sorted out. Thank you everyone for your help during this farce. The FSCS really should have done better to resolve this matter.

    Little update from me:

HSBC all sorted and showing in my ISA last week (4th June). So it took them 8 working days to sort. Branch staff were great; interest wasn't backdated though so I give HSBC a 7/10 overall.

Mrs christh still waiting for Nationwide to set her new account up - branch staff had no idea what to do with the FSCS cheque and whoever the advisor called didn't really seem to know either. But apparently all in progress now, it's taken them 5 working days and counting...
