Anyone with a photocopy of their FSCS cheque - I'd be grateful if you could post/PM me (or post in the Google group) the account number off the cheque (relating to HSBC Bank). Santander seems to have misplaced my cheque sending it to head office who now need the sort code and account number off the cheque for some reason to track it down. The branch staff photocopied the cheque when they took it but the photocopy is missing the bottom quarter of it which I assume has an account number on it.

    The farce continues...

Energy Saving Champion I've been Money Tipped!
    The saga continues!!

Received letter from Barclays telling me my money could be included in my ISA with them and to send a cheque ,which I did.

Received cheque back in the post today advising " cheque can not be accepted as over the ISA limit"

Just come off the telephone ,they could not understand why cheque returned as their previous request was the correct procedure. They are to further investigate and get back to me.

However the guy said he would log my telephone call as a complaint, and after a bit of haggling gave me £170 goodwill gesture, which has gone immediately into my account.

So even though my ISA fund has not yet been updated I am £170 better off.
I eagerly await the next chapter.

Just been into my local Nationwide and the person there looked completely blank when I mentioned daily incident and minor incident websites. She's taken copies of paper work and logged a service request, which can take up to 5 days to process.

Let's see what happens with that.

Well I gave up on the Nationwide and popped into my local Skipton BS branch last Friday (29th). They had to phone head office but they sorted it all out within 30 minutes. I was warned at the time that they had a backlog of ISA applications. I had confirmation on Wednesday (3rd) that the account had been opened and interest was going to be back dated to 15th May. Passbook arrived in the post today (5th) along with a cheque for £5. Very efficient!

Nationwide did ring me back on Tuesday afternoon to say that I could bring the cheque into the branch and they would be able to send it off to their head office. I guess, when I get the chance, I should pop in and tell them to forget it but I feel in no hurry.

I've still to decide on the final destination of the funds. It might be Nationwide Flexclusive, it might be a Skipton fixed interest, I am just glad it is no longer sitting as a piece of paper!

Well Santander lost my cheque sending it to head office to be credited into my ISA! £40 compo now in my account. FSCS issuing a new one now. When I go back into branch I'll be demanding backdating of interest and probably bank it into my current account.

    What a fiasco/nightmare.

Pleased to say my ISA investment with Nationwide is finally sorted out - thanks to the branch staff for progressing it in the end.

Its been a hard slog though - but finally I can say goodbye to DotCon/EBCU.

Decided to stick with the big boys for now - sadly this has put me off credit unions entirely for a while. At least there is safety in numbers!

Also to add that my cheque is now in NW, minus the fiver. Actually quite pleased with how things went!

Check your e-mail and bank accounts. This morning I got an e-mail from a company called GoCardless to say on the 15th they will be taking a direct debit of £12 from both me and the other half for our membership of DotCon. I rang the bank, and the DD's are set up for next Monday.
    These have now been cancelled

When did you set up a direct debit ? - I never set one up with DCU myself as I paid them by bank transfer.

I haven’t had any such email – and didn’t set up a direct debit for my DotCon membership fee but paid it by bank transfer.

Did you sign a direct debate mandate for DotCon when you applied originally – it is one of the options for payment and Gocardless are listed as the administrator if you apply on line so seems legit?
