Recap:
19th: Visited Nationwide Branch to attempt to open ISA and deposit cheque. Hour spent in branch while they ummed and arghed and spoke to head office. No resolution so left it with them to investigate.
22nd: Phone call from branch, saying that Head Office have requested they send the cheque and all docs to them to action.
So today I receive a letter from NW - and I'm thinking it'll be confirmation that everything is finally set-up and sorted. Right?
Nope - it's a rejection letter saying that the cheque is over the £15k allowance and they cannot open an account!!! They've returned my cheque and all documentation, including a copy of the email the branch originally sent detailing the special circumstances.
Unbelievable0 -
This is all reminding me of why I abandoned Nationwide ISAs 4 years ago. 3 unapologetic months for an internal NW-to-NW maturity transfer where I lost sight of my funds for a full 2 months took the mick. I see they've not yet got round to sacking their ISA team and starting from fresh.
Posting mine to Leeds today ... fingers crossed that they've researched the situation properly and are able to handle things for me now.0 -

In my case the branch didn’t send off the cheque – just copies of it and the statements and a completed ISA transfer form. So my cheque is still gathering dust at home in a drawer.
Frankly in light of your experience I am losing confidence – seems their ISA team doesn’t talk to each other. One might think by now they see Dot Community and an FSCS cheque – and say we need to check this out.
You should register a formal complaint – you might even get some compo!0 -
Partner received confirmation certificate from Skipton this morning for cheque deposited into their 1.6% 1 yr fix.
Appointment was last Friday, so all done and confirmed within a week.0 -
Just been into my local Nationwide and the person there looked completely blank when I mentioned daily incident and minor incident websites. She's taken copies of paper work and logged a service request, which can take up to 5 days to process.
Let's see what happens with that.Save £12k in 2023 #17: £19,085/£24,000 (79%)
Save £12k in 2022 #5: £18,007/£18,000 (100%)
Save £12k in 2021 #17: £18,012/£18,000 (100%)
Save £12k in 2020 #25: £15,522/£15,000 (103%)
Save £12k in 2019 #112: £10,963/£10,500 (104%)0 -
Gizmo, oh dear. Did you speak to a manager when you mentioned those websites?
Skipton's ISA Transfer form arrived today and no call from Nationwide. Let's see if Nationwide call before end of the day, although I'm sure I'm fooling myself.0 -
Just had another email from Skipton saying that all 3 accounts have been opened now. Paperwork in post along with £5.00 cheques made payable to the 3 of us......

Funds are now in my First Direct ISA although have had to call several times to achieve this. Was initially told they needed confirmation from EBCU before they could process anything. I had to point out they had gone into administration, and hence why I had an FSCS cheque...
Has anyone had anything further from Cork Gully about additional interest due from when ISAs were transferred into DotCommunity?0 -

Re your First Direct application did you simply pay your cheque into your FD current account - and they did the transfer from that (following you applying by phone and completing an ISA transfer form and posting it)? How long did it take - and are they backdating the interest to 14 May or your application date.
If I don't hear back from NW by Tuesday I may just give up - and try FD instead!
Sorry - can't help on the last point!0 -
My cheque is now in my Nationwide ISA, backdated to the 15th.0
