I currently have health insurance through my company, and I pay nothing for this.
I am concerned that if I take out this cover, that there will then be a requirement to use Pruhealth even though I dont want to, this will then possibly result in costing me additional money.
Any ideas?
Just on that point about costing nothing,, Dont forget it the company pays then its a taxable benefit. My free insurance cost me around £400 a year...Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
I'm a member of cannons through pru health. Went every day last week to clock up my 26 days to continue free membership but my card didnt swipe one day and they buzzed me in so I am a day short. Pru health said I need to get Cannons to update the record electronically to them but Cannons say they cannot.
Anyone had this problem? the fitlinx system recorded my workout on the computer for the missing day!0 -
Just made Platinum status on my Pruhealth membership . . 2000 points! Also got to my required 26 Gym visits for April - June with more than a month to spare (which is just as well as I am getting married and will be on a Honeymoon for much of June)!
My understanding of the fact that I have Platinum status is that not only will I not be paying for my gym when my policy anniversary comes round in July, but I will only be paying for the annual increase in my PMI premium, i.e. probably about £5? That will be nice! :-)0 -
There was an article relating to PruHealth today in the Telegraph Business section which makes some mention of changes to the scheme in August:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?xml=/money/2008/06/04/cnpru104.xml
I considered but did not take out a gym membership policy with PruHealth. The article mentions new benefits such as cheap return Eurostar travel, Mark Warner discounts and bonus Nectar points from Sainsburys.
The article makes no mention of the 25-100% gym cost reduction, which could of course simply be an omission, but it may alternatively be an early indication that this benefit is going to be dropped from the policy at some point in the future.
Just a heads up for those that have not seen the press article.Up Tipp!0 -

All the benefits that the article is focussing on are new ones being launched in August so I assume that is the reason. Also, it does obliquely reference the fact that members get credit for doing healthy things like attending the gym so I doubt they are removing the gym benefit.0 -
Congrats to luckyfool.
I joined Canons via PruHealth on 2nd April and am up to 800 points so still a bronze but heading towards silver.
Unfortunately I haven't been quite so good at going really regularly so it looks like I'm going to be paying the 325 per month for the next quarter but am going to make a really concerted effort sso that after that it'll be freeMS Stalwart. I am only about 300 points from Gold and I only joined end of January:j! So I should hit platinum by January. Really happy about the new perks coming on. I am loving the gym so much and the perks are just an added bonus. By the way, I no longer pay for gym membership since I go so oftenQUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D0
