I'm still waiting for my Quidco payment - will I get it before my annual renewal!
I went to Virgin gyms 19 times last month, the last 4 of them are recorded as 0 points so yes, max 15 visits in any one month.0 -
ive got a choice between a tier 1 virgin or an la fitness, any ideas which is the better gym? (apart from the swimming pool at LA fitness)0

Antonio, there has been quite a few off comments about Virgin imho. Some would argue that Virgin is a plusher gym but for the lack of 'admin drama' I would go with LA Fitness. I am with LA Fitness and I really like the outfit. Relaxed, accessible and regular free classes. BTW used to do Virgin mystery visits so I am familiar with them as a user too.DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0

p.s also LA Fitness have family swim time where you can take in the kids and other family members for only £1.50pp which I and Woody (my Daughter) think rocks!DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0

Hi again,
I've gone for this deal with the Didsbury Virgin Active. Seems like a great gym!
However..... Has anyone else had the following problem?
I'm in contract now and paying for the membership. My card hasn't arrived yet though and they won't let me in the gym (even though I'm paying!!!). To be honest, I found this pretty enfuriating as I know that I'm currently paying for the gym membership and want to get in! I even took in the confirmation evidence from Pru Healths site with my details on and they weren't interested!
The Pru site or employees say to just sign the entrance book to ensure that my points get counted, however Virgin say that it is Pru that have made the decision not to allow entry. I asked them if it was their GM's decision as Pru say otherwise and she said yes! Really feel like contacting them to ask for the official Virgin response on this. Bit gutted to have to put the gym routine on hold to have to wait for my card to arrive at home, when my Pru life welcome pack hasn't even arrived yet!
Have they done this to everyone or am I the only lucky chap that they felt obliged to deny entry to?
Thanks and sorry if this sounds like a rant! A little wound up from work and was looking forward to a decent de-stress hardcore workout!0 -
I just called to cancel my PruHealth policy as I am going to work out at home from now on. I was told I still need to go to the gym regularly for the rest of this month. Around an hour later I got this email:
AMENDMENT NOTICE: YOUR GYM TERMS AND CONDITIONS
We’ve made a small change to your gym terms and conditions, which we need to tell you about. These changes include new definitions of gym attendance, activity and fraudulent activity.
To register gym visits and earn Vitality points you are still required to swipe in to the gym with your gym membership card. However, as our Vitality programme is designed to reward people for healthy living, we have updated our definition of physical activity to exclude the purchase of refreshments, beauty treatments or use of internet facilities. Any attempt to register these activities as gym visits, or visiting the gym without engaging in physical activity shall be construed as fraudulent activity.
The specific change has been made to the clause below to account for the event of fraudulent activity.- 18 a) In the event that we reasonably suspect you of Fraudulent Activity in relation to your Gym Membership and Gym Attendance, we reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to:
i) reduce the number of recorded visits and any corresponding Vitality points awarded for Gym Attendance by up to ten visits per month;
ii) adjust your Membership Fee for future months. - Such action by us under clauses 18 ) a ) i and 18) a) ii may have an impact on your Vitality status and/or the amount of the renewal premium on your (or the policyholder’s) Policy.
- PruHealth’s rights pursuant to this clause are without prejudice to their right to cancel or suspend your Gym Membership pursuant to clause 8 of the terms and conditions.
I've still got around 13 visits to make up in this month. Trying to sneak an extra 38 quid out of me, thieving gits!0 - 18 a) In the event that we reasonably suspect you of Fraudulent Activity in relation to your Gym Membership and Gym Attendance, we reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to:

Toastcrumb I got that too. I think Martin will need to revise his article because he was 'encouraging' this. I think this would have alerted PruHealth eventually. Ah well :-(QUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D0

Did you only get it after asking to cancel?0

I have made no request to cancel so I think all Pruhealth members will be getting that email as well. They have simply decided to change their T and Cs based on what they have seen and heard going onQUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D0 -
Bah. Looks like I've got a healthy month ahead of me.0
