    Nice one!

Just called Tesco Car Insurance (on the 0845 number, the 0113 just said the switchboard was now shut, but using an O2 mobile so it came out of my inclusive minutes ;))

    It went like this...

Tesco: Hi, I'm Dan your UK sales consultant, how can I help?
Me: Hi, I saw the leaflet in-store about the 500 Clubcard points offer for a quote.
T: OK, were you actually wanting a quote? It has to be for insurance to start in the next 30 days and I can just give you the points instead if you want...
M: Oh just the points would be great, my insurance isn't due for a couple of months
T: OK, let me just take a few details [name/postcode/Clubcard number]. That's it all gone through, it'll be on your next Clubcard statement. Thanks for calling in!
    M: Thanks :)

Simple as, and only a couple of minutes on hold :D

    Alan

Same for me - £20 off my next holiday - thanx Mr T

to the high call volume they were receiving this morning. :rotfl: :money:

I did the same thing, if you are 'unsure' of when your renewal is due (even if you are and you dont want to go with Tesco, you want the points with no hassle) they will still honour the points! so you dont even need to spend 15 minutes on the phone

500 points for me today!! 2 minutes and I earnt £20.00! Thanks Martin

    Yay!

I got my points and didn't need to go through getting a quote as I said my insurance was due in September, just gave the reg plate number. 6 minutes for the call on the saynoto0870 number! No probs!

    Thanks so much OP!!

Just called on the 0113 number, they said couldnt quote more than 30 days in advance, and didnt offer me to points no nothing. Gutted!!!

then make sure that your quote is less than 30 days in advance! (of course I'm not telling you to lie about the date, but just as a point of reference it is very hard for them to tell when your insurance is due, unless you already have insurance with them, or with one of their partners, to which Tesco have none)

    Hi,
I just got quickly through on the 0113 number, explained got leaflet in store but my insurance not up for renewal for a while but that I am looking for quote for car I may buy and she said well I can just give you the points without having to give you a quote.

So all I ended up giving here was name, postcode and clubcard number and she says ponts will appear within 1 or next 2 statements.

Easiest clubcard points I've ever earnt.

    Thanks

Phoned the 0113 number, got straight through to switchboard, who connected me to car insurance dept. I said my car insurance wasn't up for renewal until September. He took my clubcard number, and informed me that he couldn't offer renewal, but still applied the 500 points!!!!

I've just spent 5p ringing on the 113 number (which was answered immediately and a nice lady put me straight through) only to get surely the most antagonistic quote-wrangler in the department :o

I did get my quote - and promise of points - but I had to justify everything at great length including why I was getting a quote, which number I wanted to be my contact number, the no claims and even the quote itself especially as I didn't accept it on the spot.

just did my quote and it was about the same price as I pay with LLoyds (excess slightly more) but I did have to ask twice how I get the points before she took my card number

    Thanks

    xx

I rang the 0113 number as landlines are free on my callplan (thank god for saynoto0870.com), and was transferred immediately to an insurance agent - it was about 9.45 a.m. for those who've had to wait on hold.

To save time she advised me to request a quote online at www.tesco.co.uk, where I filled out a form and entered my Clubcard number to claim the 500 points (I think). What was unnerving is that there was no message to confirm the 500 point claim had been registered, and given that the points aren't credited until November, how can we be sure that the agents who took people's Clubcard details verbally will actually register them for the 500 points? For all we know, they just chuck the numbers in the bin, as for them the 500 points is just a distraction (they're probably on commission for the insurance quotes, which no-one appears to be accepting, at least based on people's response on this site). How many of us will remember to check to see if the 500 points appear on our Clubcard statements in November?

I kept a copy of my quote on my PC, and will make an entry in my diary to check for the 500 points.
