Neighbour has started reserving a parking space on the road using a wheelie bin.

Is this legal?

Can I get the council/police involved?

What would you do?

Play dumb, say, oh looks like your bin blew into the road so I moved out of harms way for you . Make sure to include BIG smile.

Surely this is classed as obstructing a public highway?

If he wants to park outside his house, he should buy a house with a driveway.

Probably not obstruction if vehicles can still get through. But depending on the exact layout of the road it may be 'causing danger to road users', an offence under s.22A Road Traffic Act 1988.

As everyone else has said, you are quite within your rights to move the bin.

It's not illegal it's smart thinking. I bet you wished you had thought of the idea first :D
