And complaining about the action of others which has no effect is boorish, would you not say?
No.
I think people who think "queing (sic) is for amateurs" are probably more likely to be boorish, don't you?
If he "reserves" "his" space, some people will be reluctant to move his bin so therefore it can and does have an effect if they cannot find a space.0 -
Actually I think having manners and consideration for others enables one to advance.
Absolutely. The sort of person who thinks queuing is for "amateurs" is not the sort of person that is likely to succeed in life.
(Expect a petulant and non-specific boast from him now about how well he's doing...)0 -

If not boorish then undeniably petty then? That along with correcting smelling mishakes:p0 -
Some great suggestions here. Here's some more:
> Start filling it with your own rubbish.
> Chain another two or three to it.
> Rig it so the wheels fall off when pulled.0 -

Guilty as charged if petty means having a slight Victor Meldrewish attitude to selfishness and thoughtlessness.
Imagine a society where no-one gives a toss about anybody than themselves and their immediate family (some would say in some parts of the country we are getting there already)
Having manners isn't a sign of weakness or being petty. It helps makes life not only bearable but enjoyable.
Whenever I get on a train and someone needs a seat more than me, why not give mine up?
Or should I sit there thinking manners is for mugs.0 -
Trouble is that you started this thread asking about legalities. Which has nothing to do with morals or manners.Guilty as charged if petty means having a slight Victor Meldrewish attitude to selfishness and thoughtlessness.

Agreed, but forums or posts do evolve. And legalities and morals are not mutually exclusive.
Anyway, I took the advice on the 1st day.
That night I came home late at night, only one space in the entire road occupied by that chap's bin.
So I moved it and parked there.
But I'd rather die first than start "reserving" my space.0 -
I admit I can be a bit of a grump when it comes to parking on the street where I live but if you are able to park outside your own house I don't see why it should bother you. If you arrive home to find only one spot left on the road ('his' spot) or that the others are much further away, just move the bin and park there, the same as you would presumably do if a bin blew into the road.
It wouldn't really bother me as long as he didn't park in front of my house when it suited him, like one of our neighbours who puts a note on your car if you dare to park outside his house for an hour but is happy to leave his second car outside your house for weeks on end. As long as it all works both ways, no matter.0 -

Dont start filling it with your own rubbish. This is fly tipping and is ilegal. And taking the wheels off could be criminal damage. Wouldnt really know about that though.
