In the same vein;its not your road to complain. Both quite petty, but at least the bin placer has a sound reason to do what they are doing.

Suppose it depends on whether you equate someone with selfish intentions and someone moaning about someone with selfish intentions.

I don't and nor do the overwhelming majority of people.

And queing (sic) is for amateurs..............says it all really.

    Manners maketh man.

It is by politeness, etiquette and charity that society is saved from falling into a heap of savagery.

    I disagree.

I think when anyone is showing bad manners (another example, queue jumping) we have a right to object.

Queue jumping is not in the same vein. Queue jumping affects others because the people in the queue have to wait longer.

And "reserving" a parking space means that others cannot park.

    So just the same.

Actually I think having manners and consideration for others enables one to advance.

But you would be wrong to believe that. Heres some evidence: there's this bloke you know that puts a bin out in the road in front of his house. Now he has reserved parking outside his house. Do you?

I suppose it comes down to whether you think parking outside of your house is advancement. Personally I have my sights set much higher.

I'm not bothered about parking directly outside my house, I'm happy to park anywhere in my road (or indeed in the next roads). What bothers me is some people's lack of consideration for others.

Tony Parsons summed it up well in this article

we are becoming a nation mired in boorish behaviour and animalistic self-interest

And complaining about the action of others which has no effect is boorish, would you not say?
