You need to tell your mummy!

If my boss did that to me, never mind a colleague, I would have done something about it on the spot!

A colleague would get a right mouthful, with the boss i'd tread more carefully ;)

Your her boss. Be her boss. Be firm, polite and fair. If she is doing something that costs the company money then pull her for it...your her boss remember. There are ways and means for a good boss to get the most out of their workforce. Use them. As for what has gone on up until now....personally I would draw a line under it and move on.....just "be her boss". Mark her card in your head.

Don't think OP is the boss.

I assumed based on that post she was. But I probably misinterpreted it to be honest.

I think the OP has the more senior position and I believe he is male? Tir21 you have to stand up for yourself not run to senior management. Next time anything like this happens have some choice remarks ready to use or turn it into a joke, laugh at her and say she ain't seen nothing yet but don't take it so seriously.

And what exactly does OP's gender have to do with this? Is it ok for women to bully men?

So when you said you could say the same to her...? That wasn't immature?

In retrospect maybe but it's difficult to act correctly on the spur of the moment when no one has ever looked at me like that or said anything like that to me before

What do you think you would have said if a work colleague looked at you like you were piece of !!!! and said they didn't know why you were getting paid?

And technically I didnt say I dont know why they paid her. I said I could say that

Honestly I would probably have provided my own withering look and walked off.

You really can't afford to let this escalate further. Engaging in tit for tat is just going to do further damage to your relationship and you do have to work together.

I think you just need to accept that you don't get along with this individual. That you shouldn't speak to her unless you're directly discussing work. If you see her in the corridor, you should smile, say hello and keep walking. If she says anything rude to you, you should say nothing or simply "don't speak to me like that" or similar and write it down. Definitely don't get involved in petty conversations where you insult each other.
