Oh INOD. That's one of those awful heart in mouth moments.
We needed about £400 to pay something before Christmas and I was worrying whether we'd be paid in time to be able to do it. Then I realised I actually have my safety fund and that it's not the days of us really going down to zero. I think that's why I like quite a big safety fund, but it's so hard to have that balance between feeling secure and not thinking 'oh I've got the safety fund it doesn't matter'. In the end we were paid early so there was no problem, but it's so nice to keep that buffer.
I guess I need to make sure it's somewhere I don't think about it everyday. I'm downloading YNAB later once I've done some more decluttering.
I'm also wondering about an app for meal planning, shopping and my store cupboard. I take my phone everywhere and have spotted an app for £2.49 (meal board by Ray bernado?). I may look at that but only once I've got YNAB up and running.

. Very sad. Although I know this isn't really bad, I am feeling very sad as I have lost a gold bracelet. I know it's not the end of the world. Just decluttering and went to pu my watch in jewellery box. Had a quick glance and couldn't see one of my favourite bracelets. DH bought it for me when courting and it was a really lovely and unusual one.
I'm always paranoid about losing stuff but can't even remember last time I wore it. A lot has been going on I guess. I'm going to have a look while I declutter but I think it's gone. I don't have a receipt or a photo - keep meaning to do that! Just feeling sad.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

:eek::eek:INOD That sounds awful >.<
It's not silly to worry about your jewellery, especially when it's something with such meaning to it. I would be devastated if the necklace that my dad gave me went missing, it's not worth anything but means the world. Good luck with finding it.0 -
Oh no SS, I hope it turns up when you're not looking - sometimes these things do. Horrible feeling though.
I lost a ring - stupidly fiddling with it and it fell off - whilst sitting in the car (of all places) and am pretty sure it went down the gap between handbrake and casing...which I've since found out is a sealed area. It was sentimental and not the value of itI have found one similar for sale, but it's not *that* one.
:eek: at INOD and the cheque.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Crikey INOD that sounds horrific!! I hope you still had a nice Christmas at the time. I have a toddler who rips all manner of things up so I feel your pain! So many receipts for electricals have gone by the wayside! The thing that drilled into me the importance of looking after your cash very young was when my mum charged me with going to pick up the child benefit when I was about 9-10. They handed it over in cash and I put it in the envelope I had been given my mum (it was an old envelope slit at the top when dad opened it with a letter opener.) and carried it home. She counted it out when I got there, and I still remember the heartstopping frozen look of fear on her face when it was £30 short. That was a LOT of money in my family. Turned out, I carried the envelope 800 yards or so home, held upside down. :mad: - it had fluttered away. I went out and managed to find a £10 note stuck to a bush. But the £20 disappeared forever. My mum was utterly beside herself, frightened of not being able to pay the bills etc. And I have always kept overdrafts and a credit card open for those just in case times - although learnt the hard way not to keep dipping in..
SS I am so sorry about the bracelet hun. I do hope it turns up. Check the back of cupboards etc, it may have fallen somewhere.
Good luck with YNAB. It really is a fantastic piece of kit. You can get a 30 day free trial so might as well download that and then enter the keylets you get it set up before 1st Jan
- it stops you looking at cash in your account as money you can touch. Everything has a job!
that way you don't spend next months money without thinking seriously hard first

Thank you. I knew you'd all understand. It does feel awful, I feel sick, but I'm telling myself it's not the end of the world (although it feels pretty dreadful). Hope I can find a photo for the insurance :eek: but look I have my health and happiness. Look where I was in April. Perhaps this will seal a really dreadful year

We end bad years on a high you do remember...
New job; last one (much better than April) is still there to fall back on if anything goes awry. More money coming in; less worries. Your health, DD's health. Good friends and a positive outlook for the next year. Free YNAB. Student life for the living, to get you where you want to be...
SO many good things. And another one to add to the list; finding your braceletthink of it as decluttering
