Well Boxing Day is here. Nice to think the pressure to get everything done, bought and so on has passed. DD asked to go sale shopping today, I hope she won't be disappointed, but I'm happy to take all the adventures with her I can before she heads off into the sunset. (cue Abba's Slipping Through My Fingers).
So I have lots to do before I start my new job, funnily I am not worrying too much about it and I thought that it would really play on my mind over the holidays, but I only have normal new job thoughts. How fab is that.
My back is very stiff though and I really need to book an appointment with the therapist, although they are now closed until the new year. My New Years resolution is to join a Pilates class, have regular back treatments every 3 months and also treat myself to back massages. Going to get this body (and mind) well oiled again. Hopefully my weight will normalise again
Lovely Lilty advised me of free YNAB, so that's my New Year's Day job. I've also got my coursework which I haven't even started yet and need to work on every day between tomorrow and starting my new job on 13th. Other than that there is still lots of clutter, which is very very very slow as I'm finding it hard to ditch things, but I know I need to get on with it, especially as I've decided we aren't going to use the loft any longer. So the spare room needs to house everythng including a huge desk (for DD and I to do our work on). My sewing things - although I have a hamper they could possibly live in elsewhere. And my paperwork, although I do have an almost empty pine chest which could possibly house that too. There's also the clothes airer but that could go up in the kitchen for short periods. I've decided that the spare room has become the room of gloom, when it should be put to work as an escape room.
Okay so list is:
Boxing Day with DD
Later Ironing
Ebay spare room stuff
Paperwork - gather into a huge bag to clear the desk off
Sewing stuff into the hamper and throw what won't go in
Tomorrow- redo list
Right off to get the household up. Have a great Boxing Day everyoneOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Sat here wondering what's happening outside. The wind is howling a gale and things are flying about. Not sure I could get to sleep tonight. :eek:OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Well the wind eventually died down last night and this morning wasn't too bad here. But now the wind and rain is back and its really yucky - still my new coat will keep me warm :rotfl:
I've just been doing the finances and the cards have gone UP to £14,999 (I made a cheeky little payment or two to make sure they are under £15k - just - and feels better). The savings have gone DOWN to £5k, although a few pounds interest is due soon. I guess that makes the total debt balance right now -£9,999 so my signature needs updating later.
I'm not feeling too bad though because DH and I had a good sale shop yesterday buying only things we need and will use a lot at good prices. I did do a couple of online orders ALMOST, and stopped myself at the last minute - that was a close shave, but actually I quite enjoyed filling the baskets and it was actually nice not to have the sick feeling when you put your card details in and it goes through. Perhaps that will be my new hobby - filling up the basket but not going through with it :rotfl:
I have got a big car service next month and DH has a large dental bill to pay so the figures will change again next month, but hopefully will start to steady again soon when my new wage kicks in. Feels slightly scary, but controlled. I need to get a few things listed on eBay to bring some more money in for the January food budget, so I may raid the electric account in the meantime. I also want to start selling things to raise money for a Christmas holiday away next year. The idea is that we could all add money to the fund/sell things - I really like that idea.
See you all later. xxOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Hey there you
Sorry for radio silence. I barely got round 2 diaries before I was whisked away yesterday. Hectic this Christmas malarkey, when small children are concerned, and especially when they refuse to wake from a nap and then refuse to go to bed for an hour after the usual time because of said nap!
I hope to get on a bit more in the coming days,e specially as Tuesday sees my back procedure. Following your lead, I am hoping to start pilates and have regular trips to the osteopath to maintain what should hopefully be an improvement on the current state of affairs!!
I am so glad you've got no panic about the new job. I really hope you settle in well, love it and love the wage increase
Figures don't look too bad Mrs. Nice to keep it under the £15,000 mark
Hope you didn't spend too much in the sales. I have avoided town like the plague and not even been on any websites apart from Parcel Forces to start the long and boring compensation process.
Big hugs to you and DDhope you are enjoying your time together
xx

Oooh pilates is supposed to really good for core strength so I might be giving it a go as well.
Glad you had a good christmas and stopped yourself from overbuying!
So excited to hear about the new job as well, we will want all the gossip.0 -
Hey Liltster, I remember those Christmases well and you've done a great job - happiness is radiating from your lovely family. It gave me such a warm feeling to see so much happiness, although I know it's exhausting with a littley. But it looks like you're having a lovely time? Xx
Pilates and back care is needed in the new year. Will be thinking of you on Tuesday. DD and I will be shopping again, although I will be carrying the bags this time as DH will be at work, so I promise the card will stay in the purse.
Absolutely looking forward to new job. How brill is that.. Yes Peaty its a new job, yayyy, and I have a good feeling about it. What a feeling...... (Flash dance music cue - showing my age now). Join us in the Pilates flash dance for 2015!!! Sadly Mr SS has a SA form to do and I've a little feeling the tax due may be a bummer. Still let's not dwell until we know and we'll keep doing the Pilates flash dance.
My challenge is to keep the spending down as it will be easy to slip into old ways again. One thing I've learned is that we seem to spend whatever is free so I need to use........ Oh, oh ohhhh, Ive just received my YNAB code, thank you Lilty. How exciting, and it lasts until end of 2015!:):p:p:rotfl::):D:D:)
My 5 pleasures today so far
1. YNAB code has arrived and I got it free as I'm a student;
2. Listened to Alison Moyet live on the radio singing 'Is this Love' what a fantastic version - have a listen if you can find it, hope it's on spottily;
3. Lunch with DD - what a joy, I'm so enjoying time with her - rather than 'slipping through my fingers' we are growing closer;
4. Wearing my new coat in the cold weather today, although it was a trifle hot at times;
5. Planning to spend this evening with my little family and although we have overspent a bit over Christmas, its been controlled, we've agreed about it and that makes for happy times.

Well only managed the returning stuff. But did food shop. Looks like tomorrow will be busy as I'm going to see to the bins, bring in the firewood, tend the fire and start work in the kitchen. XxOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

I had a look on Spottify but it didn't sound quite the same. They didn't have a live Alf, so will have a look around. She truly has an amazing goose bump making voice.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10
