Candles... Does this really work to provide some heat?! I like tealights for mood lighting but the pool of light is so shallow that I have to light half a dozen just to see the corners of the table!

Been over to visit dear Brogden :) skipped out on the champers though. Got a rip roaring headache, booze always makes it worse.

Off to bedski :) lots of love SS xx

Just catching up so a bit late to the candle party, but loving the papering ideas :D

Lilt - we get an extra 2C with candles on compared to without - but that's usually 4/5 pillar candles going for a few hours.

SS - heat from bulbs has reduced here as LED ones get just luke warm to the touch, I think you get more from the other energy saving type ones and even more than that from incandescents. No idea on pence per hour on that one though :rotfl:

    All swings and roundabouts really.

  • I LOVE candles, never thought of them for heat though!!!

Love big pillar candles lit, especially smelly ones. Mr Mars secretly likes them as well, I come in some nights and they are lit. He told me he likes the smells! x

  • Naughty DH spent on the CC for a work expense and has not yet claimed it back over a month later. I've let the amount sit there for a while but have had to pay it from the current account as I can't let it go and cost us charges and interest. Not going to tell DH though. May even charge him the interest. I don't think he'll ever become responsible about money. And he certainly won't if I do everything for him. It's things like this, but on a grander scale, that got us in the mess we're in. I couldn't keep up with all the juggling. He's also got a small overdraft now and has started using that. May have to remove it and the card if it starts to spiral. Will have to keep a close eye from a distance. Mustn't moan too much as weve both come so far, but he's definitely got emotional issues linked to spending.

Ahh, that's ashame after all the hard work getting this far. Still, at least the CC is work expenses due back, but the OD could be a slippery slope, so I'd probably try and jump on that one and stop it before it starts.

Does he just think there's more money in there and not realise what's coming out or is he making a decision to use the O/D knowingly?

I'm sure you'll find the best way through it though, you've doing so well and hopefully this is just half a step back from the loads forward you've made. :)

  • It was because a regular payment was late going in so maybe I'm jumping the gun. But Id like him to save so he has a bit left over. I've kept his od low and if he starts living in it will have to jump on it as it can be a slippery slope can't it.

  • Hey you

Thanks for the snuggles. Am bit better. DH obviously hasn't had his LBM. Seems silly to take his OD away but I would! He obviously can't manage his own money/spending vs income very well. Hugs to you. Can't be very nice being the sensible juggler xx

Ali thanks for the info on your candles. I am impressed!!

  • Ohhh dear what an annoying situation. I would also step in, as you said slippery slop and all.

Learn from Mr Mars and I. We both were nearly debt free in January 2011 and let our guards down and thought everything was fine and managed to rack up a lot of debt! December 2014 before we fixed the damage!

  • Thanks guys. Well MrSs had a wake up call. Work have refused to pay his expense. :rotfl::rotfl: Normally I wouldn't laugh, but my mantra is don't spend on the credit card, he hasn't listened and look - it's purely this kind of thing that got us into trouble before. Banking on money to come back in that then doesn't materialise. Multiply that a few times and you can see how I lost control of the juggly balls.

However I can laugh this time as its a relatively small amount and these days MrSs has an allowance. So he knows this is to be paid from his allowance and is not happy. A small lesson learned - don't rely on money not in your hand to pay off your debts.

What is even better though is that a couple of MrSs's ebays items had just sold which would more than cover it, so after his glumness I explained and that cheered him up, until he realised that the ebay money he just made was gone because he didn't go through the proper channels at work.

Maybe one day he'll get it and this has been a good pull up for him. The OD is okay again and I am having a discussion this weekend about that and not spending what you haven't got. He's really got to try and save, even if it's a pound a month. And the OD is there for emergencies only. Thanks for the encouragement guys. I am clearly a big softy with regard to MrSS and money contrary what Mr SS thinks.
