Used my Morries voucher and bought some broccoli and cauli for dinner together with a £2 bag of washed potatoes weighing 12.5 kg. Bought a few other bits including toothpaste, mouthwash and a couple of lightbulbs at £2.99 for two. I'm going to have to look into that as £1.50 a bulb seems high - they are halogen with a 2 year guarantee but I'm not in the know at all about bulbs these days.

Anyway, £43 spent  so I need to do some meal planning for the rest of the month. Fortune has given some great ideas - Fritatta, veggie lasagne, fishcakes?, so I need to stock up on some staples to make sure I can pull these together.

Last night we went to Mr T's and DD fancied fishcakes which were 75p for 4 which she ate with a pile of veggies. But it would be lovely if she could make her own. She's also going to have a go at a spiced fruit loaf recipe on Beeb Good Food. She made bread and butter pudding last week, which I have to say went down a treat especially as we bagged a YSfruit loaf for it.

Right, I too need to get a wiggle on, before the sun goes down. Lots to do today to make sure SuperSaver Heights is well ordered.

Have a great day all and a good evening and a fab Sunday. Hopefully next time we make contact I will have finished all my jobs and chores. :)

ps, my Morries card came through and I had 1780 points on my card today for the shop plus another 400 for the toothpaste I bought. Plus I should have some on from my old Morries card - hopefully I will be able to cash it in soon (not sure how to do that yet). I also bought a couple of diy/craft bits from B&Q - exciting stuff - hope to get some time over Christmas for that xx

  • Aw, thanks for popping in hon. Yup feeling more positive thanks. We're on the up :)

Couldn't resist popping in to update my signature. I wasn't going to look at the credit card, but glad I did. It's not as bad as I thought unless I've forgotten something. So should be back on the straight and narrow in no time. Got a few meals to pay out for, but we're holding steady. :T

I'm just going to pop by yours to see what you're up to. Jelly banana bread sounds lush. Have fun :)

  • Now I'm listening to this and getting goose bumps -

Cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
And you see me waiting for you on the corner of the street

    ... I'm not moving....

    Great music, thanks Litly.

Lightbulbs are now a nightmare SS. I don't think you have been overcharged. I used to buy the old ones with loose change :(

I now have to replace all of the light fittings in the kitchen because the old fashioned ones are obsolete :(

Whilst the new ones use a fraction of the electricity.....from an MSE point of view its a bit of a bummer to have to pay (what) ten times what we used to pay.....I don't think we are better off in the pocket to be honest.

    Oh well.....progress :)

    Have a great Saturday night!

  • We were cross posting then. Shame about the lightbulbs. Was it Ali-ok talking of removing light fittings to put the standard pendants back? I've got 4 LEDs in the kitchen and 2 pendants. And virtually every other room has two as well. You're so right, it used to be shrapnel for a pack of 10 now it would be £15. Ali has been using candles and I may join her. I have a lot of wood to get rid of this year so the open fire is being well used at the moment. I brought a few logs in last night and a blimmin hornet flew off a log into the house. I think it was on its last legs but has disappeared into the coats and shoes, never to be seen, hopefully. Well I can't find it now.

Have a great night too. :)

It was me indeed, great memory SS :D.

Electrician friend swapped out a 4 mega-burning halogen light fitting with 200 watts for a standard flex and 1 bulb of 4 watts. I moved all mine to LED bulbs at the start of this year, prices have come down alot now (under £5 per bulb but still expensive), the light colour and brightness is much better but the saving for us is about 2 units a week - 23p hmm..going to take a while to recoup the @ £140 initial outlay.

We've still got 2 lights where the internal fitment needs changing to take an LED bulb, they're using the 28w energy savers at the moment. Progress...and the meddling EU yet again

And yes, still using candles and loving that cosy feeling they provide, plus the extra 2C of heat so a saving on gas as well :D. Back to basics in lots of ways is cheaper - line drying clothes, carpet sweeper even! :)
