  • Just caught up with you SS1K!
Am sorry that family managed to put a damper on your brilliant success and happy time, it is so hard to "manage" these situations. We also have family who do that but fortunately there is distance between us and one very wealthy cousin I have now managed to avoid for 4 years. They only ever came to see what we had or had done to the hose, and invites back were "come and see or new xxx" - not come and see US. ANd when they came to ours they always managed to sneak in a put down - "well it looked good from a distance" or "pendant lights are so boring - why didn't you have ,,,," etc. For a while I found myself stooping to their level by trying to think of things to say back - but am not quick witted enough to have those retorts ready - only thought of them after the event after many replays in my head. So draining!

No advice to add to that already given. Easy to say but don't let them have that effect on you - otherwise they have succeeded!

  • Thanks NOA for your words. I feel stronger for hearing them, but sorry you have to go through it too.

Agree the tactic is 'avoid, avoid!' and I'm not going to feel guilty. It's self preservation.

  • SS1000, just popping in to say HI and CONGRATULATIONS on the new job - well done you.:j:T

I can sympathise on the family front as well - I mainly try to avoid my in-laws who live nearby - there is only a VERY short time I can spend in their company.

You carry on being your wonderful self. :)

  • Hi Peace & Freedom thank you for popping in and for your good wishes. :):). Isn't it funny, we can't bear to be in their company, but they seek us out.

Wf8. Thank you, great quote. You have reminded me that Life is (and people are) so interesting.

Sadly I'm off to pen push today, but I'll take that thought with me. Life is so short, let's make the most of this wonderful gift. :):):rotfl::):j

  • Hey there you weird and wonderful lot. Hope you have all had a lovely day even if you have been pen pushing.

I am sulking in a corner looking at all the money I have spent recently. Time to get YNAB grinding its gears as it is payday.

Lots of hugs for you as always :) xx

LOL Litly. Pen pushing over for another week. At least you can look at the money you spent - some of us are burying our heads in the sand about it.

However, I have bought the paper that tis not the moon today and I will be buying £10 of stuff in Mr M's this weekend to get £5 free. The bargain hunter is awakening in me again. :-)

Hope you had a good day too and that the jellytotster is all well again. (Did you have the whole week off?). xx

OMG, just opened up the paper to look for the voucher and I came across 'Tory MP in Twitter bondage hacked' and 'Asda boss, his dancer lover & ...'. So a voucher and a bit of fun too. Lol.

  • LOL

Jelly is much much better and has a glorious blue and pink bedroom with new bed cover, pillowcase & sheet that are adorable, super cleaned and ironed curtains back to their glorious best and after an attack with a stanley knife, white spirit & WD40, a curtain track that the curtains glide across properly finally :D:D:D - they were half hanging off from being forced over a decade of paint jobs by my landlord splashing onto the track and the muck to go with the age!

I indeed had a beautiful week off. I usually work Weds-Fri so when I book 3 days off, I get 11 for my money ;) however this time, I have a hospital appt on Thursday 4th and it is such a trek there and back, and at an awkward time so although I could take the time off and not work it back, I am in fact taking flexi-time and working Tues, Weds & Fri this next week. Means I am back earlier than I should be, but nvm... I have NINE days of work left until I have 19 days off for Xmas, and I took ONE days holiday to do so :D:D:D:D

Lmao at the paper. I have a daily scan of the daily fail website just to make me feel better about my life. Lol.

Have got The Script - Superheroes on repeat :) that is how I am getting through my YNAB.

    Weeekenddddddddddd :D xx

  • Sounds good. And you get a guilt-free hospital visit.

Weekend indeedy. Hope jelly loves her new room. I can just imagine. :):rotfl:

    Have a great weekend. ::smileyhea

  • so I'm still not looking at the credit card bill, partly because I have some work expenses to claim back plus a refund of DDs shoes. So I'm going to wait for the paper bill to come in when It will be more straightforward. I will be able to use the savings to pay the bill if needed and then top those up with the two months off the rates bill. By then I'll be full time so happy days. It felt a bit weird being a little gun-ho with the spending, but I can promise that I didn't go mad and am comfortable that I won't be shocked when it all pans out. I'm really looking forward to spring of this year when we should hopefully be settled for at least a year - wouldn't that be amazing.

Hope everyone is well. I'm so grateful for everyone's support and thoughtfulness. It's been a hard week emotionally, I'm hoping to fully regroup over the weekend. I'm planning a steady one this weekend with sure but steady results. :)
