  • Hello all, you've been busy while I've been out. Not as much done as hoped. DD suddenly decided she wanted to talk and talk and talk. It's been great spending so much time, but Wow, I'm exhausted. It's lovely but she certainly chooses her moments. Early night tonight and more prep tomorrow.

Yes the money is too short and the month too long. I'm not looking at the moment.

Sorry about the firefighters, however I have discovered that if you cut up an egg tray and sandwich some lard between two of the little trays you will make great firelighters. :rotfl:

Lilty, thank you. That is so sweet. I'm so pleased your phone ok too. Have a lovely break.

  • Well prep all done and all things laid out for the morning. Wish me luck, however I have more lined up in the wings (which will probably suit me better, so this may turn out to be a good practice 😄).

Hugs to all that call by 😈🍺🍭

Good luck! Just talk about what "you" did in the competencies, not "we" :p

Well I've done a lot of interviewing recently. I've no idea what field you are so can't get too detailed. But you will either have the experience or you won't! Just take a moment to think what they are asking, and make it easy for them to tick the boxes. Personally I want to hear about the challenges in a particular scenario, not just the way it went wonderfully well! So mainly talk positives "I did all these great things"; but also speak of how someone was awkward and you won them round, or a crisis occurred and you had to solve it.

Also, be clear why you want the role. Sound keen! The other parts of the interview are important too. But mainly, be yourself and ask questions that allow you to decide if it's the role for you.

Let us know how it goes!

  • Thanks both. I'm fairly calm. It's not the ideal job (content or pay) so I'm feeling a little ambivalent underneath.

Heard from my friend again last night who is also looking for a permanent job, but keeps getting second place. She was getting upset and I've found it really affects my mood and makes me slightly panicky about my own situation. It feels like a one way support system sapping my energy. Slightly annoying that she won't listen to my advice, I guess she just wants to offload, but I'm not really strong enough to absorb it at the moment. I gave her some advice about a couple of jobs to apply for, so we'll see if she does. She probably thinks they are beneath her, but. My advice is to get your foot in the door and then transfer, especially as it's the same pay. No brainer to me, but I suspect her husband is also directing her - but it's his advice that got her into this situation in the first place.

We had lovely jacket and beans last night with the cheese I grated in my new blender (whoops did I mention that?). Bought it to help make HM bread which is definitely easier, but it also is great for grating cheese and carrots. Definitely a good buy as I'm paying £10 a month for 3 months and it was half price (yeah right). Good vale though.

Rant over, off to get my glad rags on and some last minute prep. Sort of looking forward to it. Yayy it's Friday too :)

  • You go girl. You'll be great if you just let yourself be. Did I mention I used to have a glass of wine for relaxation purposes directly pre interview? So much better than rescue remedy though you may wish to hold off til this evening.
