  • Right Lilty Lentil, have a great time in Nottingham. Sounds like you might need some tunes (second class ticket to Nottingham please!) :rotfl: Remember they make you breathe more easily :rotfl:

    I remember that one! :rotfl:;)

Made a lovely Greying type tea earlier - tarka dhal, HN naans, carrot salad. Actually bagged a NSD too :j

So need to come round yours for me tea! :D

All sounding chipper on here superdave :D I'm with you on getting multifunctional glasses. We only have 2 types now. Plain pint glasses and small flat-bottomed bistro type wine glasses. We ended up getting the wine glasses from mrW, one time when we stayed in a holiday flat. The glasses provided in the flat were all fragile, long stemmed flutes or bowls..... and the carpet was cream......... ;) We got these glasses - brought them home and have used them ever since :D

  • Hi Greying. Lovely to see you. Come round for tea anytime, it would be an honour. :D

Thank you for sharing your glasses. :D My idea was to get the short stubby glasses so that they can be used for DDs cheesecake desserts (low sugar ginger nuts, low fat cream cheese with a bit if icing sugar and a slice or two of strawberries in jam on top) and double up as glasses too. I've used the wine glasses before but have had a few casualties so not enough now, also they were hard to transport when we headed out for a shared dinner last time. So glad you popped by though because I am now mind made up that we can use these for wine or shorts or juice etc too. No more wine glass buying here. Shame they are still £5 for 4 in Sainsbugs, but I can bide my time.

We have just finished off yesterday's pancake batter for breakfast and have been making homemade firefighters seen in YouTube. They said to use vegetable shortening but I only have lard so that will have to do. And we have loads of egg boxes so will report back this afters.

Kindling is the the only thing we are short of now and I will buy some later. DH bought a huge chopper as he 'needed' it to make firewood. Needless to say it has only been swung a few times - typical of him. When we move it will be donated to the outlaws.

Rightioh. Off to get a move on, things to do, people to see.:)

  • Homemade fireLIGHTERS. Oh, that I could make a homemade fireFIGHTER. I bet I'd get plenty of orders - roll up girls. :rotfl:

They were actually HM firelighters made out of egg boxes and vegetable shortening. I didn't have vegetable shortening so used lard. You tear up some bits of card and put them in the egg carton, fill them with melted fat then wait for them to go cold. They were successful in that the fire lit, (even though I forgot the kindling) but there was a slight smell of BBQ. So I'm going to investigate a different recipe.

I've made 3 litres of spicy lentil and tomato soup and have another dozen rolls in the oven. Wholemeal this time for a change. Cloakroom has been spring cleaned - I know I know - DH is under instruction to touch up the woodwork on Saturday. I even took the Hoover for a walk around the whole house.

I've got homework and interview prep tomorrow and at some point need to clean the oven. It's all go here.

  • If only Shelbi, I could solve a lot of problems. :rotfl:

Do try the cheesecakes, I'll post the recipe later today. They look lovely and are very yummy.

Thanks for the support. I'm in a good place at the moment. Current job great, but need to find extra work which is doable. Interview one is close to home and fulltime, probably more mundane but but give loads of time for money saving and with DD. Interview 2 is more money, which would be eaten up with extra travel, but long-term better prospects. I will do my best with all of them

    See you soon.

  • I should say current job great but not enough hours and not secure. Iv1 is more hours, secure, but slightly less hourly rate..Iv2 is promotion, but extra money above iv2 would be eaten by travel, plus more travel at least 1.5 hrs more per day. If I don't get 1 or 2 I will be looking for something to supplement current job. Great how writing it down helps.

Right, breakfast done, flapjacks made, now to clear the messy kitchen and get on with my interview prep. :)

  • Eeeeeeeeeeeeh!!

I did wonder about the firefighters but in all honesty I thought it was something akin to a 'toy soldier' made with eggboxes and just figured you were super arty ;)

You've been a whirlwind!! Look at you go! All interview prep done? Feeling good? I am not going to ask the question I really want to ask until after you know the answers to your interviews... ;)

So lovely to see you feeling happy and positive :D makes a change from April doesn't it?

I've cleaned the oven!! And done 2 more loads of washing, one of which is dry, the other drying.I cheated and used the radiators but considering they kicked on when the thermostat was set to 15 degrees this morning, I think it was a bit cold NOT to use them! Never mind, I am all officially moved to 1st Utility & they are much cheaper, plus I have a super A efficiency new boiler... and £50 cashback. I am sure I can have a day of heating before we leave for 5 days and use nothing ;)

Will be thinking of you the whole time! :D xx
