  • Lots of interesting projects and exciting adventures ahead. That is so much better than staying stuck in a rut, and putting up with intolerable conditions. It takes a brave soul to buck the trend but you're one x.

  • Thank you INOD - I hope that doesn't sound slightly weird, but it feels like the difference between being scared of what is around the corner and wondering what exciting things could be there. Either way, what will be will be, but at least I will enjoy getting there. :)

Hi Whitefeather8, I'm not sure that I was brave. I felt like a right scaredy cat. But I was just completely worn down and it felt like I was being got at from all angles. Now that I'm better I'm thinking 'what was all the fuss about'. However, in reality I know that I was trying my hardest, but that others had their own agenda's and that was the problem. I also wasn't being appreciated and I stand by that if that is the case you should take yourself to an employer who will. Its a shame from all sides really and I will always have a slight wonder about what would have happened if I'd stuck it out, but hopefully I have done the best for me and will come out stronger from this (and with a degree which I probably wouldn't have even looked to do).

I'm also finding so many new and inventive ways to eat nutritionally for less, which I could never do when I was stressed and of course you then end up spending so much more on convenience foods or by not shopping around.

I'd ideally like to raise my income very slightly, but keep up with my lovely new found MSE lifestyle - perhaps with the odd treat here and there. But I would really appreciate those treats. I was watching the news clips about whether sugar should be seen as a toxin or not. I preferred the guy who said that no it shouldn't be seen as a toxin, but we should treat it more like champagne - ie. as a special treat - so I'm going to try that as another aspect of my MSE lifestyle. :)

Righteo, I've been so long posting that I expect I'm timed out, so I'd better do a save before I have a quick look around and then check again on my Shepherd's pie. I've just thrown the porridge oats in as I'm out of Lilty Lentil's - they're on offer at Mr T's at the moment so I'll get some next Saturday.

Take care have a great Sunday. X

  • Oooh and I forgot to say that I picked up a stew pack in MrT yesterday - it was £1 and weighed a kilo. So all the veg has been chopped up into the cottage pie (sorry said shepherd's earlier) - swede, parsnip, carrot and onion. Its tastes lovely and together with the oats has really bulked it all out. Will try it next time with some lentils too. :)

Looking forward to eating that later with leftovers for tomorrow and two freezer containers full. :T

That idea of the stew pack with cottage pie is great. Packets of mince seem to be shrinking in size as fast as their price is rising! The lemon cakes were lovely too, very moist.

I think people tend to use their heads or their hearts in making decisions and you are using both :).

Using our feelings/intuition to sound things out is very underated in western culture, but highly valued in other traditions, go for it!!

  • Thanks hun. Should have listened to my heart last year. Still I have lived and learned.

Glad you enjoyed the lemon cakes. The stew pack was a great success - however, Lilty told me about putting lentils in as well, unfortunately I'd run out this time, but it really adds some bulk as well as a lovely texture and protein. The porridge oats are better in a chilli really - or perhaps both.

Have just been for a 'drive' over to your thread Wf8 :rotfl:

  • Well, payday again and I think I have finally realised DHs tax code means we are permanently about £150 worse off in effect than I thought. I'll have to wait until the year end to be sure as I seem to have mislaid his payslips :(

Coupled with my loss in wage it's a real blow. I'm not having any joy with extra hours or a full time permanet job at the moment so am trying my hardest to keep positive. It's not easy, but I need to keep trying. We can just about do it but need to get some focus this month. :)

Hang in there Supersaver, I feel your pain, we will be having a hair shirt November too. Keep your eyes on that debt free date Aug 15, you can do it!

Think how much you will free up then and how rich you will be when your income starts increasing as your expenditure stays the same.

    HI there SS1K,
Sorry you didn't get your job but am sure there is something better out there for you - when the right one comes along you'll know it! You are doing fab with all the cooking, am sitting here drooling over lemon cakes now :)

Getting a permanent job not so easy at the moment but like you, when I have had interviews I have sat there thinking - so I really want this? and I knew it wasn't the right job because I was relieved when I didn't get it, and stressed too but not because I did not get it, only that the uncertainty continues.

Keep going - you are doing so well. If Aug 15 is your debt free date that' s only 36-40 weeks away!!!!

  • Just been catching up on a few threads and slightly sad that some people are going through a few problems. I'm currently okayish at the moment, so I hope they all get through the rocky times, like I have - if I can do it, anyone can. Hugs sent to all that need them and keep heart - I know you will all make it. :T

I'm avoiding updating the signature as I've dipped into the emergency fund this month, so am putting off the pain. But I will do it in a minute and report back. It's been a tiring end to the month with lots going on and I am a bit behind with uni work, but I also have another two job apps to get in - it's going to be a busy weekend (I'm going to try to get it all done on Saturday).

On a positive note I got sent a job from an agency the other day. It wasn't suitable so I didn't reply, but I have another two agencies to send my cv off to this weekend because I now know it will the new year before I can leave this job. So maybe looking for part-time Christmas work rather than something long-term.

On another positive note I am having my car paintwork touched up in the next few weeks. It will only cost me about a thirty pounds as apparently it can be done by patching up rather than doing the whole bumper. Yayy for great people, I'll be really excited to get my car back to loveliness again. I'll be even more excited once I actually own some of it - which should be very soon. Residual value has got to stop dropping soon - it's falling faster than the payments I make. Another 6 or so months and I should start making inroads and I will be able to renegotiate and perhaps halve the payments. I was looking at trading it in for a small car, but I wouldn't be any better off financially and it is a really lovely car. It was £21k. new  But I took it on after a year for £14k. Worth less than £10k after another year :eek: In six months I will actually own a little bit of it, rather than the bank owning it. Awful to think that £11k has disappeared into thin air and that it could have paid off the Ccs by now or could be a house deposit :eek::eek: oh well at least the LBM happened. We choose our paths and need to accept and move forward.

Big hugs to all that need them. Let's keep on trucking guys :)
