  • Yay for interview experience. Practice makes perfect and when you find the right job for you, you will blow them away :D I am crossing everything for you still!!

Amazing that your totals are under £15kcards/over £5k of savings! I was almost there with the £5k savings but now I have spent the Christmas money and on some emergency bits, plus sucked up a £380 loss in income a month I doubt I will get there before Christmas. Still, slow and steady wins the race!

Spicy rice on the menu this week ;) xx

  • Hi Lilty - just had a cheque go out for £200 that I'd forgotten about. Will get the balances amended again. Whoops!

Thanks for the job encouragement. I had a little chat with my line manager yesterday and feeling a bit better.

Yes slow and steady will win the race, you're right. I need to keep on and keep going and get there steadily making progress.

Am feeling rather tired today as did a job application on Sunday night until late, then had a lesson last night and then catching up with coursework tonight. Another job app to get in tomorrow night - all this and work too!

DD is busy cooking spicy rice so am looking forward to a healthy blow out. Have to take care as my trousers are starting to feel the strain

Sending hugs and gooiest wishes. (that was goodest wishes, but I preferred the auto correct's gooiest - chocolately ones maybe :))

  • Hey lovely lady,

Wow - so much going on since I last checked in properly. I have smiled, and sighed and felt warm bursts of pride throughout my reading.

It's really clear to see the new positivity shine through, despite what seems like quite a lot of challenging situations. You are focused, and determined, and I know you are going to succeed in all you want to do.

Well done on the job applications. I'm so pleased that you're thinking about what is right for you (not just about the money). Your wellbeing is worth more than a raise. As the owner of a LONG commute, I wouldn't advise it unless the job is really worth it!

Feeling very inspired by your diary SS!

NB: Btw Lilty, I'm recoiling in (mock) horror at your terrible slander. What is wrong with the name Giblet I ask you? The cheek of it (!)

.....tbh I did wonder at the time when I was christened it by a friend during childhood. I was told it was because I was 'cute' and the name was cute. As we were teenagers tho, I may just have resembled Turkey innards.....
    Debt remaining: :(
    Mortgage - £117,759 (£134,600, Nov 2013)

Work overpayment and home improvement loan paid back (£19200)

  • Gib you must stay! I have laughed and laughed at you tonight! You are good for me and SS. :D *bestest buds* :rotfl:

My childhood nicknames were Pilly (surname issues), Looby Loo (daddys girl), and then the lovely speccy four eyes, goofy (gap teeth) etc. So I think Giblet sounds lovely. Turkey innards carry all the flavour dont you know? ... :rotfl: nowadays I am called Pickle. So we have a 'Jam, Jelly, and Pickle' in our house. :D not to be eaten all at once.

Right. I know I said don't laugh but I am terrible. So I am just going to throw my laptop off the bed, dodgy cables and all and close my eyes and pretend the little tiny soldiers that used to plague my bedcovers during my childhood are coming to get me if I so much as breathe too heavily. Those were scary little soldiers. Thankfully they never got me and you all have the benefit of me today. The crocodile under the bed never managed to snap my feet off either. I used to take a running jump onto my bed if I had to use the loo in the night. Blame spooky old houses, overactive imaginations and... well.. uh. Me. I was a weird kid. :rotfl:

    Night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey I hope you don't mind me subscribing. Long time lurker, short time poster.

Love your thread, will definitely try out the spicy rice (when I buy more rice, trying to go through and use up all my cupboard stock before the next "big shop". It sounds mega yummy, and perfect for my work packed lunches.

Loving following your journey, you're doing so well, and the right opportunity is just around the corner (I'm sure of it)

  • Welcome Purple penguin. I have got huge stocks of potatoes, lentils, pasta and eggs. Now I need huge loads of inspiration. The more the merrier. :D
Righteo, off to do what has to be done, and will probably have some leftovers for dinner. Saves on cooking again.

Can't wait for the weekend and a good rest. :D

  • Have you tried potatoes Boulangere? It's basically like potato dauphinoise but just made with potatoes, stock, onions, but it comes out mega creamy as though it had tons of cream in. That's a big favourite of mine when I'm wanting comfort food and have lots of potatoes in!
