Are you good at making up stories on the spot? What am I saying, you're a mummy :rotfl:

I was always so good at making up those stories of tell us a time.. I know that is probably not what the interviewer would ever want to know, but frankly, there is nothing they were offering that I couldn't do, or learn very quickly. Better telling them stories that were vaguely true/embellished, than telling them 'I could do your job in my sleep love....' :rotfl:

Stability is the one thing we all look for :) that and the winning lottery numbers. The extra money will definitely come in handy so don't knock it!!

    :D still proud! xx

  • I've also put in an application for a job that is a step or two up and could mean some travel. Not sure whether I truly want this yet, considering my last experience. However, it feels good to have a few options opening up, but I definitely won't be making any moves until I am sure it's the right thing.

I think more money and travel is fine, but closer to home, even though it's less money, would be great.

  • Don't waste time worrying about the options. It only becomes an issue when you get offered the jobs.

  • Haven't been very good at doing the budget so I need to sit down and work it out now that most of the October bills have been paid.

The car loan stands at about £10.5k and car is now around the same for a private sale. Hopefully in the next six months. I'm incredulous that a VW golf just over 2 years old has lost half in value, but as its debt neutral now I'm ignoring the car for the purposes of what I owe.

The credit cards are now under £15k - yayyy - and the savings are still around £6.5k so a net debt of around £8.5k. I'll do a proper count up in the next day or so - it's nice to see it coming down, even though we've had to pull the purse strings very tight.

If I can get some extra hours, we could still be on target to be debt free in the summer.

Nothing much else to report. Still waiting for student loan to confirm my funding.

  • Oh blow! Had to call on the savings/safety fund for a large dental bill - and more to come. Oh well that's what a safety fund is for I guess.

I've adjusted my owed figure and safety fund and will be able to confirm it at the start of next month. However, we are still under £10k net debts and my aim is to get that back under £9k as soon as I can. However, my main target is still to be debt free by next Summer. That way we can then start saving for a deposit ready for the possible move next door to Lilty!

The main thing for me is that I feel in control of it all and we don't start building the credit cards up on rubbish spending. Its not great but its really not bad. A couple of years ago this would have sent me into melt down - now I'm like - okay this is how it is, and this is how we are planning to handle it.

Have a great day all - I am going to make some bread, do some homework and some cleaning, then off to the quacks. I also need to print off Lilty's voucher and plan my £30 shop in Lidl first thing tomorrow. I have masses of eggs and potatoes, but need milk, bread flour - and things to keep us going until the end of the month.

See you later. :rotfl: :T :D:)

  • Hello lovey

Glad the voucher has come in handy! Seems many on MSE are utilising it this weekend. I've gone viral :rotfl:

I could use it up and it would be worthwhile eventually but my cupboards are so well stocked I don't think it is worth me putting myself over my groceries limit so early in October :o so will be good!!

Do you find that Mr L milk doesn't last as long once opened as the supermarkets or am I just being weird? It seems to go off twice as quick in my house!

As for dental bill  hope all ok?!! Glad you have that safety fund there. I am lucky that my NHS bills are covered at the moment, and I have an accidental damage policy for £400 a year, plus a £120 for normal dental expenses on top. Hoping to have a bit of private treatment done to use that up as I don't use it otherwise.

    Lucky me :)

Your debts are still more than balancing out and as long as you are in control (Get that spreadsheet up to date!!!) then you will be fine :)

Lots of hugs! xx P.S yay Gibby is back!! xx :grouphug:

  • Hi Lilty, you have defo gone viral! :rotfl: I have used the voucher and have spent £28.83 and got myself enough bread flour for the next few months! As well as the weeks groceries. I have just got a few bits to get for about a tenner and then we are set for a while. We are having pizza, carrot and coriander soup, shepherds pie, omelettes or egg with home made chips, coleslaw etc. I'm not sounding too adventurous but I just needed to get some easy staples sorted first. I really need some freezer containers for sheps. Pie and soup. Tried the easy park cheap shop, so may need to pay the parking later and go to the quid land shop.

Half term is going to be a stock the freezer week - and I will do some GP lentil burgers in shapes. I really like the idea of ginger bread shaped ones - I have that cutter too :rotfl:

I haven't noticed that about the Liedell milk but milk goes quickly in this house - we have a lot of milky coffees and DD still likes milk. Yes we need to sort out some dental cover. It's the first thing I'll do when I increase my hours. Family health is a priority.

Right I am off for a soak as I haven't stopped since Thursday night and am out again tonight. Really looking forward to Sunday and being able to get on with uni work

    Have a great weekend y'all :j

    :)

  • Ay up! supersaver - you got a haul at mrL's eh? :T to Lilty's voucher share :D:D

Hey, I was thinking, when Lilt mentioned the gingerbread cutter - how cool it would be for Halloween (not to mention an awful faff!) to make a burger shaped gingerbread person - that you'd squirted tommy ketchup into as you made it. Then, either as you were cooking it (:() or eating it (:j) the ketchup would ooooooze out! :rotfl: Kids would love it :D Or you could drape strips of mozzarella type cheese over one as it finished cooking and have a 'Mummy' burger.... :rotfl:

    OK, I'm going now...... :rotfl:

Thanks for your continued support on my thread - you and Lilty are stars :D
