    Thanks Lilty.

Have had a very positive time, interspersed with a few worries. I can see a kind of way forward now and it could be all for the best. Depending on what happens over the next 18 months. :)

Isn't funny. Nothing has actually changed but I feel much more hopeful.

Degree-wise, I am going to accept the offer and just hope I get accepted for student loan. If I get turned down I will be selling things to fund it, but I've decided it will be worth it. My passport ran out, and I delayed sending off my birth certificate. Then I rushed it off on Friday and only sent it 1st recorded in my haste, forgetting that recorded is only for getting a signature if you are lucky enough for it to get there. After posting on Friday night the dam thing isn't there yet. Bet that's gone missing then. I'll have to buy a passport or get another birth certificate one, and that was my real one. Dam you carp Royal Mail m

Hope you are having better sleeps than me. Fell asleep on sofa again and now woken up early  At least I haven't been poked in the face though. Hope Jelly had a good sleep too. It's just a habit isn't it - they need a good long walk and as much fresh air as possible, then a cut off point for liquid - oh no that's me! :rotfl:

    Looking forward to:

    My degree
Learning skills in my new job
    Meeting up with old colleagues
The possibility of great new jobs with my new skills
Spending lots of time with my DD and DH

ps. Chicken soup was great. If you have leftover chicken. You can also make little pies. I used to buy a korma sauce as DD loved korma and that would make a great quick meal. The Lloyd Grossman ones are delicious if you can get them on offer, very coconutty. Last night we used some of our egg tray with a cheese omelette. Plus had carrot salad from the curry book - carrots, coconut, raisins, grated onion and chopped chilli (optional), spoon of lemon juice and salt to taste. Yum!

  • Food sounds delish! I wish Him would eat omelettes. Even jellytot will eat an omelette but he complains about the texture whilst happily scoffing scrambled eggs. Methinks it is his muvver and fathers super carp cooking that does it! He also refuses pork chops & roast chicken.. oh and spaghetti bolognese. Then swears blind when I mention how nice it would be to have one of these cheap and filling meals that he would be perfectly happy to eat it. when I serve up he just picks at it and looks disappointed. Its a rota of badly cooked versions of the above at home for him so I can't really blame him. I just miss a good pork chop with lovely crispy fat!

Well done on the degree and don't worry about the recorded. It will get there! They have no rush in delivering these things but they do seem to get there eventually. Many a time I have thought mine has gone missing! Takes RM a few days to upload sigs and stuff too..

I am glad you are feeling more positive overall. As I said, it really helps to get the bad out with the good. Other peoples opinions and help take a bit of the weight off your shoulders and it is easier to see a way ahead! Love my diary.

Lots of good stuff coming up for you :D

    I am looking forward to...

    THE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!! xx

  • Hmm, not sure what to say about that. My family are a bit like that - present them a piece of chicken with a bone and they freak out. Or a steak with a bit of fat on it  Not sure what that's all about, as they would eat a cheap burger with it all mushed up and seasoned, yet a nice piece of sirloin with juicy fat on (which helps the flavour) oh no, they think that's disgusting.

Hence I am a little fussy, but not too bad and I don't freak out, I just avoid things like shell fish and mussels - I will eat them but not a lot. My DH and DD are excellent though - they eat mussels, oysters, anything - I wanted to make sure DD was more like my DH than me food wise. Although we all love veggie stuff and I am making Jack's lentil burgers tonight and everyone loves them. We had bean goulash last week and we all loved that.

Its hard with HIM and his food habits. When my dad split with my mum he suddenly went all fussy with food with my step mum - its almost like they get away with it if they can. Revert to being children. Perhaps you need to introduce him slowly to stuff? Its a real pain having someone who doesn't like fairly basic fare - especially eggs, spag bol as they are so easy, nutritious and reasonably priced.

Why don't you make some spag bol (spell check just changed that to slag bol - but I changed it back!) :rotfl: Then let him eat the spaghetti with some cheese or butter or tomato ketchup on. You could call it slag bol. Maybe he'll then try yours and Jelly's spag bol and even like it? My DH does pull a face at some things we suggest for dinner and then he loves it when he tries it - hence lentil burgers, goulash etc. All probably face pulled first.

Anyway, I must get on with a few things as I have a few hours off now. I've submitted my money claim for buy mobiles non-payment - hopefully I'll get paid in a couple of weeks. They really are a piece of work. I've had to fork out a £25 court fee for a £35 payment. Still if they want to settle now I want £60 to cover the fee.

I'm just about to get into my uni stuff - exciting stuff.

Then later I'm popping to the clothes place to drop some bags of clothes off. Hope they aren't too stingy with the payments as I don't have time to do ebay really.

Also want to make some bread and the lentil burgers in advance and do some cleaning etc. Got a lot on today.

    :)

  • Wow you are a super busy bee today. I cannot believe buymobiles never paid! And £25 to get paid! I would be wanting more than £60 settlement! What about time spent? :D

Him sent off 5 perfect PS3 & PS4 games, some literally used a few times... Then had to keep emailing the company as it permanently said 'In progress' for 2 weeks. They kept saying their payment terms were 10 days max, until eventually first thing this morning he got an email saying they should have paid him yesterday at the latest (This was £55) and they apologise profusely and said he was the first ever customer they had missed the deadline on but it had been seriously hectic; they drafted in a trainee who then accidentally locked their Sant&er online banking by entering the pin wrong too many times and had to wait 3-4 days for a new one to be POSTED to them... They offerd him a 10% upgrade on his fee as compensation for the wait. Then this afternoon, he got not one but two payments. One of the £55, and another of £61 something... :rotfl: waiting for them to figure their problem out!

Wow to the lentil burgers. I really want to make them but keep thinking I need a burger press! Do you use one?

How was the clothes place? I've never weighed any in, mainly due to mine being worn until they fall apart. Jellytots get stored at mums for *next time* although I am unsure on that score with my current household situation. Got 2 children as it is between Jelly & Him!

I opened a paypal account in an old email address as my friend sent money there once so I had to sign up to claim in. I got emails offering me both £5 cashback from paypal on my first purchase if I signed up to eBay, then another one offering me a code for £10 off. Is eBay dying?!

Thanks for the food advice. It is amazing, he will eat the most random of foods, but give him something simple and frankly his parents have soaked it in 2 inches of sunflower oil, cooked it for 6-7 hours once a week for most of his life and so he is put off entirely. I say he has no tastebuds, as he will eat the most basic of basic packs of noodles and tins of beans and sausages etc. I am a lot fussier. I prefer to know where my food came from, rather than just 'mechanically recovered chicken and pork' on the label!

Making stuffed marrow for his parents on Monday ;)

I have wittered on enough in your lovely clean diary... Happy WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Lilty :D x

  • Well what a flaming muck up.

As the evidence hadn't arrived at the student loan company I thought I'd better buy another birth certificate and order the fast service for £23.50. Then I put the claim in for my cashback payment £25. All money I don't have but it's all taking so long I decided to grasp it by the balls mettle.

So then I get a call saying they are paying me Monday and then I look on Royal Mail and see my first letter now delivered so don't need the £23.50 one. If only od waited til Monday - wudda cudda shudda.
    :o

I'll get the £25 back but will have to swallow the £23.50. I will put the compensation claim in for delay though which is 6. X 1st class stamps

Oops hold on just got to turn the bread down.

  • Looks like the trainee made another muck up as well as the pin lock. Oh dear.

I've made the lentil burgers three times now and these were the best ever. You don't need a press, just don't make them too wet and dip your hands in flour. I made mine quite thick. Fry them, then flip over fry again and the gently press. I'm going to make double next time and freeze them. I think a press would be better for freezer ones.

No one there at the clothes place. Real pain as I made a special journey, been a wasted money day today :A

Well done on the money for paypal/eBay. I don't use them very much these days. Ever since they put commission on the postage. I use it for highish value items but nothing too high or too low. I'm going to advertise on gumtree in future.

Another jelly tot? I'm sure jelly tot junior would be taught a lot of jelly tot tricks by big sister :rotfl: Tough decision, especially when you have men like ours. It's got to be your decision for you and JT.

Have a Great weekend Liltbuster. :A:rotfl:

  • :rotfl: I love it... 'hang on, just got to turn the bread down' then back and posting again. It is honestly like sitting in your living room :D

I am so gutted about the £23.50. :( I knew it would get there in the end. Bl00dy signed for and RoyM suck so hard. They shouldn't be allowed to charge so much for postage when First Class is a 2-3 day service nowadays! No wonder so many people are turning to alternative posting companies.

Thanks for the advice on the burgers. GP showed me a press that is only a couple of squid (only) so I really need to make a resolution to make a lot of them, or a lot of burgers in general to justify the expense and yet more kitchen equipment.

Good news on the £25 etc. Soon the money shall start flowing back to you!

Another jellytot.. hmm what would we call this one I wonder. Jellytot has a boys name, with a very girly middle name. If I had another girl I so want to call her Georgie. But 2 boys names just shouldn't be done. My boys name was always 'Theo' but Him hates it. Anyhow it is a moot point. He doesn't want any more. Another huge issue in my world as I always wanted 3 but would settle for 2. He is an only child, whose mum was desperate for another, and his dad said no. His mum is bitter even now 20+ years on. I don't want to be like that, but either way one or the other of us is not going to get our own way. He is younger than me too just to add to the issues. We couldn't fit another in where me and Jellytot are now. I only manage to fit her in after shipping all of Hims stuff home with him and getting creative with storage.

I am having a very mojo-less day today. I have the beginnings of a cold I refuse point blank to have. Him started with it last night. Jellytot and I have been disinfected (the house) from top to bottom in an effort to contain the germs, and we both dosed up merrily on Berocca and Abidec vitamins. Still tonight the sore throat has begun. Not happening

So my day has dragged on endlessly; I have got nothing done and eaten rubbish... I should just go to sleep!!

Sorry for the ramble on. Not too positive either today.
    Positives?
    * Apple Muncher sent me lovelies in the post for Christmas Card making
    * Today my flat has had a good disinfect and is a spider free zone
    * My £1.17 phone charger cable arrived and works properly so I can finally change the music on my phone!
    * you called me Liltbuster :rotfl:

Night hun - as always thanks for keeping me cheery and happy! xx

Dunna forget, that burgers can be made with a biscuit cutter (round or square), or a poaching ring (2 for about £1.99 in hardware shops, or W1lkinsons sell them) and a strategically placed 'back of a spoon'.

For ease, have a square of greaseproof paper/clingfilm/foil or non-stick baking mat flat on your work surface. Place your ring/cutter on top of the paper/cling etc and fill the ring with your burger mix. Press very firmly down and fill the ring (if it's a deep ring/cutter - then obvs only fill to desired burger *wodginess*) Smooth off the top of the burger with the back of your spoon until flat. Carefully lift the cutter off the worksurface with your paper/cling etc underneath - then either tip into your frying pan (cling/foil is on top at this point), and peel away the cling/foil. It may be necessary to carefully press your burger mix out of the ring/cutter at this point. NOTE, if you are using a plastic biscuit cutter, it is easier to press the burgers out onto a plate or spatula and then transfer the burger to the pan - rather than melt your cutter :D

I do however, always freeze my burgers before I cook them (hold their shape better) so I 'unmould' them onto a tray lined with greaseproof or foil - when they are frozen, they just lift off.

  • Aw. Lilty. So sorry you're a bit crook. Drinks lots of water, squash etc. flush that cold out!

I wish I could give you a bowl of this steaming spag Bol to pep you up. :)

Hmm burger press an extra gadget. I've just ordered a food processor from Very. What's wrong with me. £70 reduced to £35, with 10% off plus 7% from Quidco. I can pay £11.50 a month interest free and it will help on the bread making, pizza dough. I have been looking around for one for a while, but I am going to clear some space tomorrow and get some stuff on flEaBAY.

Just going to press post and catch up with the movie (the Millers - hilarious).
