You are on fire, girl! Keep up the good work!!!
My old work offered accommodation and medical - which i used - then got a nice tax bill on top of it. No such thing as a free lunch - I think that is the phrase?!?!
I'm visiting from Texas, USA! Having a fab old road trip!
Keep up the good work! I've just paid off some of my credit bills (keepin g on top of them) and nipped on here for some inspiration! You can get carried away when on holiday!!! xxOriginally debt free 27th November 2014 :T

Hi Veronica, sounds like you're having a great time. Thanks for popping by.
Hi INOD, I'm sure I calculated this on the salary calculator using DHs tax code, but it's a little worrying. Although he tells me there will be some higher paid months to come Bit of a mess up with his pay this year, which will resolve in April. Not good for budgeting though.
Hi GP. Thanks for your support. Day 5 of the month and owe £123 on the credit card from last month, £4 in the bank, £20 on my prepaid card and about £9 in my purse. It's DHs wage again plus back to school stuff. I will need to dip into the OD. However, I will not go wild as I have done previously and my Girl Called Jack book got dusted off and we had bean goulash last night.I am trying very hard not to get depressed, and am holding strong.
Shelbi, I missed your post before, so thank you for your congrats. I have now been formally offered a place. :T amazeballs a. Degree! However I have delayed getting my proof of ID form sent off (did it yesterday) so now don't know whether I'll get finance which I must have. I will call the uni on Monday and am hoping they'll let me accept on the condition of getting finance. Hopefully the student loan company finance won't take too long as I put in the application ages ago and they are just waiting on ID. I know it's a debt but it's investment and at the moment there will be no repayment.
Soz to all for being so absent. I've been very up and down lately and don't want to depress you all. I am having some very good moments interspersed with doom and gloom, but I keep reading your threads and they are great inspiration.
I will update signature soon, I should have dipped below £20k this month however with my OD and Cc balance may not reach it. Hopefully next month.
ps. I have applied for better job, don't really meet the criteria, but if you don't ask ....OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Hey missy.... these diaries are to catalogue the good and bad... I know you don't feel up to posting, but maybe it would help your mood to get it out? I know for me, I write a lot of gibberish on here that stops it spilling out into the real world and boring everyone to absolute death?!
Fingers crossed on the job!! Good luck!!!
Don't worry about the credit card, or lack of cash. Sometimes it goes that way unfortunately. You're working towards a point where it won't happen and that is all that matters lovely. Don't get disheartened if you don't dip below, this month is an expensive one with back to school... Next month will be better!
Yay to degree and hope you get the finance! I love how it is paid back conditionally depending on salary
Lots of love and positive vibes! xx

I agree with lilt. It's only been the support that I've received from people on here in response to negative posts that helped me through some really bad times to start making a big change that was overdue and sorely needed.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Thank you both. I am always amazed to get a reply, never mind such wonderful support. My confidence has taken such a dive over the years and recently and one day It's back and the next day I'm eeyore again. I guess it's a journey, but it's really good to have you along.
I am so excited about the degree offer, then eeyore says you won't gets the finance. So I look on line and distance learning is covered, so eeyore says it may not come in time. So I say just hold on a few days and call them, I sent my documents by recorded delivery, so eeyore says recorded delivery is rubbish should have used special delivery as they could get lost! So I say get lost eeyore! So I say get lost eeyore I'll contact the uni and explain. I'm sure they won't turn down some funding just because someone is delayed with their funding. ..... So eeyore starts talking about failing the course. You get the picture. I didn't use to be like this - I was ever the optimist but I guess a few knocks have knocked me down. It's a sign I need to act.
Ps I don't really talk to a donkey, but you get the picture. I can't believe how proud I feel at the thought of studying for a degree. Its familiar from the past and I need to keep that feeling.
Thanks for your support and for understanding my doom and gloom. You are right it is good to gets it out and I am slowly getting there. Even if I talk a load of twaddle on the way. :rotfl:
Thanks lilt re. slight overspending. I'm scared of getting back into a pickle, but this is a blip that I need to get over. Hopefully getting over this will be a good thing.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

I have an Eeyore 'Club Gloomy' mug. I have my coffee in it all day every day at home
he was always my favourite for some reason. Probably because I identified with him rather a lot when I was younger. Bullying, stress, illnesses... I was definitely more Eeyore than me!
I am happy to report, as I have got older, and found some balance in my life, I take the bad a lot better than I used to and it no longer takes over. It took a lot of adjustment and finding out how to make MYSELF happy without relying on other people or objects to do so. You can get there; it just takes some time spent on you. Not to say you won't have bad days. I had a real slump for a few days a few weeks back, for the first time in a while. But I am through it!
I post in the 'something good in every day' thread. I tihnk it is under debt free challenges. Run by someone called Sunshine of course, it actually truly helps me. On a day when I have had so many knocks I look rather battered... I find happiness in things like finding 6p roadkill, getting accepted for a credit card I don't require which will soon disappear (mystery shopping) and so on. There is always SOME good, even if it's just having an extra spoon of dinner on your platesoon my list of positives looks ridiculously long for such a rubbish day! And there you have it, I feel better!!
I am not saying you should do that. But maybe have your own little positives in here! When you look back each day, the positives from yesterday inspire new ones for the day ahead!
Twaddle away... wherever you wish. I miss you joining in my own twaddle

Thanks Lilty for sharing and hugs sent, it all makes perfect sense.
I had a free Pilates class this week and got a free DVD too. Amazingly my back/neck pain was so much better overnight. I am going to do the DVD twice a week with some running. Hoping to avoid some osteopath costs.
I also have to confess to eating out three times this week, at a total cost of £29.75 including drinks. Not very MSE but good to meet with friends and colleagues. However I feel very bloated and not happy that a family member wants to share a family takeaway this weekend. I know it's their birthday but if they'd planned I could have not taken the meat out of the freezer:mad:
On a positive note I got the paint brush out and painted the bathroom window and washed the blind. Feels a lot fresher and will work my way around the house once a week. Used B&Q everywhere so easy clean up.. Also read the proscrastination link on GPs thread - I definitely own one of those monkeys.

three meals out for under £30 sounds quite MSE to me. just accept that sometimes it happens but the difference is the awareness you haveMortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Thanks INOD. It was evening pub grub with friends, jacket spud at lunch and a soft drink then a leaving do where drinks were paid. You're right it was a good deal and I mustn't feel guilty. Guess my MSE side was kicking in as that's about a weeks budget at the moment (in theory if not in practice) - but the company and comradarie was priceless
I'm just about to update my signature. I owe £11,260 on the car, but can't believe I did a quick check on webuyanycar and they offered me £8,500. For a 2 year old 1.6 tdi Golf. So lost over £12k in value in 2 years:eek:
I'm desperate to get to the point where what I owe is the value, not sure why, I guess it feels like it gives you options.. But the value seems to fall faster than what I can pay off. Surely it will have to level soon (perhaps webuyanycar are being particularly hard at the moment). Oh well 2 more payments and I can give it back without penalty and at least that's a better option than giving it back and owing money on it. I'm not planning on giving it back though, I know YNAB advice is to sell it and buy a smaller one and save the payments, however it just doesn't feel like the right thing to do as I've invested too much into it (£10k to date). This one doesn't need an MOT for another year, is only £30 road tax, is great on fuel and will be ideal for DD to learn to drive in 2 years time so she can start giving me lifts. It's a keeper if I can.
See Lilty and INOD you have lifted the lid on inane drivel. It feels mighty good. :rotfl: from this side anywayOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

It is utterly fabulous to read inane drivel
because it isn't. It is plans and thoughts and hopes and dreams and endless possibility!
*DD learning to drive in a couple of years  how proud you must be of her!
* Owning a brand new car, and one that I would kill for at that (so jealous!)
*Not having to pay for the first 3 years MOT
*The car is worth the difference between your savings and debt (valuation from the WORST car company in the world to go to) - did you realise that? Effectively that asset you hold there is the difference between being in debt on CC's and NOT. (Ignoring the loan for the purposes of making that point)
*3 meals out for £30? I can't even manage 1 for that!! Mighty MSE of you indeed!
*Cook the meat anyway and use it cooked in something new. Enjoy the takeaway, company and birthday!
Screw YNAB's advice on the car. One day sometime soon you are going to own it. DD will learn to drive in it. It will cost you the minimum in servicing and repairs, because it is far NEWER than anything you could hope to buy currently. It's cheap on fuel and road tax. How could they fail to be pleased with this?
Webuyanycar suck... We drove 70 odd miles to the nearest place as online they offered £4,500. Got there with the car in the same condition as described, 6 years old, low mileage, no real wear and tear... Just too expensive to run as it was automatic. They offered £2980. We drove away.
And I know what you are saying about the car loan being the same amount as the car is worth... but do you expect a bag of potatoes to be worth the same as you bought them from the shop several weeks later? You've either used them, or they have sprouted lovely green shoots... The same applies. It will decrease rapidly, but it will level out at some point (not the potatoes unless you sell them to a gardener :rotfl:). Likely around the £7.5k mark in all honesty. Heartbreaking as it is, you're using it every day... Couldn't probably work without it... Think how hard it would be to do the shopping without it. It does a lot for you every day. It even stores old change for you to find when you clean it:D:D:D
