  • Hi supersaver. Don't rush to spill your guts to your line manager. It's probably just as Greying says. Unless you're really struggling, give it at least two weeks.

Thanks INOD. I am so desperate to impress I am drawing a blank. I need to slow down and use my noggin. And also think about the impression I am creating - as that is key (and what I didn't do in my last job).

Ding dong the wicked overdraft is gone. ....

Crikey. Feels slightly strange. Although it's still in place and costing £25 for the 0% rate. No longer needed now though. Just looking at the best bank accounts and thinking of going for the TSB one. Can put £2000 safety fund in and receive £78 a year interest which is twice the ISA interest and can have two accounts.

I can leave my other account in place maybe just for groceries.

Just got to pluck up the courage to pay off my MBNA card tomorrow.

:T:T:T Well done, OD bites the dust :D Get used to that strange feeling :rotfl: ;)

TSB account is a good one for sure.

Can't wait to read 'MBNA card is a goner' :D Go on, you know you want to :rotfl:

That's a list and a half to work through! Those little bits and pieces are adding up nicely too. Doing really well. :)

Ooh. Not quite an MBNA gonner. I was just going over the figures and realised that due to DHs NI repayment this month, even with my holiday money, things are tight.

I need to buy 2 new tyres for around £150 plus DD has some holiday courses she would like to go to, which I can't grumble about because it's cheaper than childcare/she doesn't do loads.

So I have paid £1k off the MBNA card and left just £375 on it. I've put £375 in to a separate account to pay for the items above only. I can then pay the MBNA off next month hopefully, but if not I can pay it back over a couple of months rather than increase the debt or take it from our safety fund (and as it's 6.9% fixed it feels a better way to do).

So pay off MBNA card still on my hit list and is imminent. First I need to cancel the £25 fee on my bank account this month (it just went out a few days ago - ouch).

The good news is that it should be achievable to pay £4k off the cards in 12 months and save £245 a month so that by next year the net debt will be just the car. Then it depends on the job front  Will worry (or not) about that later.

Thanks for the support GP and Ali. It makes such a difference :). The list and a half hasn't got everything listed either. Amazing how things build up when you are stressed. I'm going to take this time to get organised, lick my wounds as such and build up my confidence. Fairy steps. :-)
