Just realised that a bag of grated cheese is more expensive than buying a block and grating it myself. (I really should have known that shouldn't I - doh.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Why do you need your overdraft as a safety fund now that you have a safety fund?Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Also, I tend to buy really large blocks of cheese when on offer, grate them and bung them in the freezer as most times I'm using grated cheese it gets heated in some way. It also stops dd eating it by the block!Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Hi SS,
Did you start your new job today? If so, hope it has gone well.
I see the OD as a psychological safety fund - I've still got mine in place as it costs nothing to have it as a back up, though haven't used it in years and years and have no intention of doing so. My emergency fund would get used first as that is saved money. Similarly with my CCs, I've still got them, just not tempted to use them (they aren't in my purse).
Great news on getting rid of the fee paying account, not missed mine at all, though the colour of the fee-free account debit card I have is so disgusting it helps to put me off getting it out to use it :rotfl:
July looks exciting with paying off MBNA - another one bites the dust.Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -
Thank you Ali. Yes, first day over. Was a short induction day today so will fill you all in after a full day at work tomorrow (but am very positive).
Managed to pop into town with DD. She wanted some hair tongs - reduced by £10 in boots to £19.99. I had a voucher for £5 off a £20 electrics spend so bought 4 Philips heads and ended up paying under £23 for all plus a 200 pts voucher. A very good start to the weeks so far.
Thanks for the od tip. My od is £1750 at the moment but I paid off £750 out of the SF earlier in the year. Now I think I should pay off the £1000. However the overdraft on a fee free account won't be 0%. I've seen some that do give a small fee free overdraft but really I'd rather not be tempted. Like the idea of a vile looking card that makes you not want to use it.
DD has cooked HM soup so have just enjoyed that. She is really lovely today.
Thanks for popping in..

Good on DD for being lovely on exactly the day you need it with the new job. :T
Well done on the Boots deals, very impressed.
That's fair enough on the OD and definitely I'd get it paid off if you can - mine isn't free if I use it either (first bit might be though), I see it as the very last resort - if I did ever need it, it'd be cheaper as authorised rather than unauthorised, if that makes sense.
If you think it would tempt you, then you'd be right to take the temptation away.
Here's to first day proper tomorrow :beer:Back on the DFW Wagon:
