I expect the groom would be all in black, my best mate who'd be filling in for a father would be all in black with a red bandana and there would probably be at least five people there who, over the years, have dated one or the other of us.
Mind you, if the bride in the OP has this bee in her bonnet about this, you can expect her to start laying down the law with him once she's Mrs Bunnyboiler rather than Ms. This rarely ends well: so don't bother tiptoeing round, wear what you want. It's not as if they'll be showing their great grand kids the photos.
ooh, ouch :rotfl:
Actually, I think brides get married in red in more eastern countries (China, Korea, and so on?) I could be wrong.
I wore dark red to the last wedding I went to. That might be a good compromise, OP, if burgundy suits you?
I've got another wedding coming up and I don't know what to wear. I always get freezing cold at weddings, but you can't exactly turn up in a woolly jumper, can you..The report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0 -

Well, she's already effectively saying that she doesn't trust him and thinks he's a liar. Hardly the most auspicious start to a marriage, is it?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I think it is the bride who shouldn't have red in her wedding colours, as it represents blood and bandages along with the white.
Wear what you like, if you look nice, good!
I know in some countries it is considered very bad luck to mix red and white flowers in a bouquet for this reason.
I just wondered why, if red & white is such an unlucky colour combination, so many countries have it in their flags, so many sports teams wear red & white strips, and so many companies use it in their logos?Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0 -
It was said, years back, the you shouldn't get married in red, as it denoted the 'scarlet woman/probably not a virgin' concept (all red hat and no drawers, as the saying went).
But, I don't ever remember anyone worrying about what the guests were wearing.

I have heard about the bride not wearing red, but not about anyone else present....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Sounds to me like this rule was introduced about 12 months ago - after series 3 of Game of Thrones finished.0 -
On my wedding day I didn't pay any attention to what my guests had on, I was too busy enjoying my day! Looking at our group photos my guests wore all sorts of patterns and colours.
As long as you don't turn up in a wedding dress, I think wear whatever colour you like!0 -

I've realised since this thread, that my sister was a bridesmaid for me in a 'red' (well technically burgandy) dress, which must have been because I wore a green bridesmaid dress at her wedding 2 years earlier.:D0 -
Just had a look at my wedding photos and she wore a red dress to mine, so looks like I'm ok. If I'm going to be called the scarlet woman anyway, I may as well dress like one. :rotfl:
Its been an interesting discussion though.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

I was taught 'Red shoes, no knickers':eek:
My mum has some red shoes, and although I know she wouldn't go commando they still make me cringe slightly:o
Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o
