Is it ok to wear red to a wedding?

I've been invited to a wedding in a couple of weeks. I've been on medication for a while and have gained a couple of cup sizes. As a result, my wardrobe of lovely dresses don't fit me anymore and I've scoured the shops for something nice (found nothing - it's all the same brown lace dress in a cut that doesn't suit me!!)
I bought a red swing dress which fits and looks nice. I showed a photo of it to someone at work and she said that it's rude to wear red to a wedding.
Normally I wouldn't worry too much about it, but I introduced the bride and groom and the bride and many of her friends think that the groom and myself had something going on years ago. I've told her (and everyone else) til I'm blue in the face, as I'm sure has he, that we've only ever been friends, (it'd be like kissing my brother) but she doesn't believe it and watches me with suspicion. I don't want to look like the 'scarlet woman' out to steal her man*.
It's such a stupid question but should I find something else to wear?
* I'd also like to point out that I am happily married and my husband will be attending the wedding.

I actually like wearing red. It's one of the few colours that works in favour of very pale (almost blue) people. Just didn't want to seem like I'm trying to steal focus :rotfl:Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Wear what you like. The bride and groom want you, not your dress! If you want proper advice, please consult a legal professional. I am not one! Thanks.0

Another one who's never heard of this. Some people say it's rude to wear white to a wedding, considering it to be a colour reserved for the bride.
I'm wondering if the person who told you this has misheard/misunderstood the saying about white, or if she was once at a wedding where the bride was wearing red and someone said of a guest in the same colour 'that's rude'.
I'm always intrigued about why people come up with the sayings they do, especially when they're ones that no-one else seems to know about.:D0 -

Red makes you stand out too much in pics. Green is unlucky. Black is for funerals. White so you arent copying bride0 -
If you look nice in it then wear it.0
