I was going to upgrade but the 2 direct debits clause is putting me off. I currently have 2 vantage accounts with lloyds, one which has all my direct debits. Prefer it that way to make budgeting simpler.

Unless I can get 2 direct debits for 1p to leave just after payday so I don't notice them. ;)

It not that difficult to set up DD to a saving accounts. Look at here

Most people are using Tesco Internet saver, Tesco Instant access saving or Santander eSaver. People normally put at least £1 but you could try for 1p DD.

You are going to have to do something unless you are content to have one Vantage account earning a maximum of 1.5% and the other nothing from July. Why not change the Vantage with your DDs to a Lloyds club to get 4% rather than 1.5%?

Hi, I have all 9 A/cs with TSB/BOS/Lloyds, so presume, they will all follow Lloyds.got pin numbers, debit cards, cheque books coming out of my ears.now only to be strimmed again soon.
    The DD's are confusing.
    Can they be set up to pay ANY bank, such a small amount, as 1p, or even £1.? DD's cost money to set up;
I've got A/cs everywhere, HSBC, Santander, PO, etc.
Also, do they have to pay every month, poll tax is 10 months?

No...just some savings accounts. There's a thread on the savings account board listing them. EDIT: I see you've already quoted a link to this thread so must have read it?

Yes they do, as per the letter you've already received from Lloyds stating this.

Council Tax can be paid in 12 monthly instalments these days (certainly to many, if not all, councils)...but you need to ask.

That was the community charge which was abolished shortly after the departure of Maggie in 1990 from Number 10!

    Really? .... :p

Someone was telling me the other day that Hoovering should be called vacuuming. ;)
If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.
If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.
  • Without reading 37 pages I don't know if it's been mentioned, but if they send you a "contactless" debit card and you prefer a "normal" card, 'phone them up and ask to opt out of contactless, they'll send a non contactless replacement.:)
    I was asked why though!

it's the reason everyone who wants a vacuum cleaner, still says hoover, even kids who only buy dyson etc.
it's become generic, same as poll tax/ community charge.
you won't hear it referred to as community charge in scotland;;:D
poll tax it will always be to me, who remembers the rates;which it's based on since 1991.( for a while)
    ;; it's for a household, not a community.

Since there's no requirement to pay out (for interest purposes), merely have them set up, no it doesn't.
