good idea, or in instance of the cinema tickets, as said if no name, donate them to a local school, charity etc for them to raffle off as a prize for fundraising.
That'll be interesting considering they are emailed to you. I suppose you could email them to the school, but as a prize for fundraising, could be difficult.Wheres_My_Cashback wrote: »Do you ever use cheques or a debit card. Very rarely use cheques, less than one per year, but when I do, I decide who to give them to. I don't know anyone who's ever read my account number of a debit card, usually its just shoved in a machine and so they get the long number instead, but still, I decide who gets that. An email on the other hand can be read by anyone.0 -
Just completed the online application form, got a message saying that they are processing my application, not to do anything now and not to apply for another current account.
As new customer, is this normal?
I applied about 1am last Wednesday. The CRA would have been down. The application asked me to choose my Lifestyle benefit and then said they'd contact me in a few days. Received an email yesterday saying "Go into branch with ID to finalise your account opening".
I would have imagined they would be able to credit check you at 9pm though, even if it's a Sunday.0 -

You may decide who you send them too, but you have no idea whether just that person sees them or not. What makes you think your e-mails are being read by other people? Do you give access to others or do you think yours are being intercepted?
Who's to say who's reading and storing your 3 digit security code when you make online purchases?
Paranoia at it's best :rotfl:0 -
If my memory is correct J clarkson actually gave his sort code and account number out in an article he wrote about banking fraud and security and challenged anyone to try to get money from his account. A week later and several hundred pounds lighter he admitted it could be done.
While this isn't anything to do with pvt emails containing certain information i am always careful who gets my details and paranoia can sometimes be a good thing lol

still waiting for my new card to arrive but with it being easter i'll give it afew more days.0 -

What happened with Clarkson is that people set up Direct Debits in his name/using his details - mainly charity donations. However, Direct Debits are protected against the direct debit guarantee, so he could get the transactions canceled/refunded.
Sending sort-code/account number by e-mail is a reasonably safe thing to do, there is a *very* low to zero risk that criminals will steal such details, and there's a very low to zero risk that they could use such details to permanently steal money.
What I wouldn't recommend is that a well-known personality publishes their sort-code/account number when their name, address and date of birth are all well-known facts.0 -
Oh yes i agree sort code and account number are more or less safe but money can be taken with this information is my point so caution with any information is the message i would take from this.
it can be recalled and probably was. I'm sure i read a week later the money had been taken but it takes DD longer to set up so i'm not sure if it was just DD ? again i haven't googled the article so my comments are just from memory which could be incorrect.
I don't disagree with the fact that pvt emails shouldn't be a worry when sort code and account number are included its a way for you to be reassured that its your bank that is sending the email.0 -
Just had a strange conversation with Lloyds
I opened and funded my Club Lloyds account online on 1 April (I already have 3 Vantage accounts).
I've received neither a debit card nor PIN and was a little concerned as we think some other post has gone missing recently. Phoned Lloyds and obviously stumbled when asked to input the 3 digit security number from the back of my debit card
Anyway, was told no card had been issued, though this is normally done automatically, and when she tried to issue one 'the system wouldn't let her'. She suggested I go into branch tomorrow and 'they should be able to help - though if they have to phone, they'll be phoning the number I used anyway'
Anyone else not received their Club Lloyds debit card?0 -
I've not got my new black debit card upgraded last weekend i do still have my old Lloyds card so no new pin should be needed i assume.0

I've converted my Vantage account around two weeks ago and haven't had a new card as yet.
Have done it in branch to ensure my regular saver was converted at the same time and, at the time, the bank manager only said my current card would continue working as usual but not that I'd get a new one. They've lost one of my cards before sending it to a wrong address so may call them next week to check!0 -

My other half didn't get her card for over 3 and half weeks! I got mine just a couple of days after upgrading.0
