If you don't like the rules, don't play the game ;-)
I was quite happy to sit with a few thousand in there on the basis that I'd get less than the 'going rate' for savings, but would always have the chance of a win of £1k or more. I mean, that's what we're actually in them for, isn't it?
I couldn't see the point, on finding out I'd won less then 3.x% (or whatever) over the last year or three, in pulling my money out, as it's what I knew the rules were. And, of course, the next month would always be the big win. Obviously.0 -
Silly me, just realised it was a cheque for ones i had cashed in.wolvesinwales wrote: »Came back from holiday today and a cheque for £1000 waiting:beer:WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..

Bought £3,000 worth last week so I'm going to see if I can change my luck!

I put 20 k's worth in each of my granddaughter's PB accounts over a year ago (40k) and frankly, I believe the top prizes only go to those the Government wish to have it. Is it a fiddle? Well, the Government are making a small fortune out of the interest it's earning and not shelling out too much in prize money, so Yes, I think it's a cash cow they wouldn't want to do without.
Oh, hello by the way. I just had to come on here and make my point. Hope you don't mind?0 -

I have had £10 since I was 16, thats way back in 1983 and not a single win at all.
Got some more, about £500 in 1987 but have only won 1 prize of £50.
Hubby got same but has not ever won a prize at all
Got my children £100 each in 2005 and still not a prize..........0 -

After tax you are probably losing 500 quid a year in interest by not having that amount in a fairly normal savings account at the Building Society (not Northern Rock though  ), even with the wins you state. If the cash is surplus, as mine was, it could be worth hanging on for the prizes between 5k and upwards (we all like to dream). If not, I guess 100k could be best placed elsewhere. It's all down to luck at the end of the day.0
