This thread is a support group for those with PBs who, despite having a large or max holding, keep "winning" nothing.
First up me - haven't won a dime since APRIL.
That gives me a return of less than 1%.
I think it's important we recognise that PBs are a low-risk gamble, but are not a serious form of "investment".
Anyone else as unlucky as me?
NOTE: If you put 30K into Icesave, you'd be "winning" £120 a month guaranteed (if lower rate tax payer).

I had £50s worth for my 18th birthday , 26 years ago , and never won a thing.
Last December i bought £3500s worth and have since had 3 x £50 and 1 x £100.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -
I had £30000 from April 2006 to January 2007 - In total I won £350, 5 x £50's and one £100.
My savings account pays me £92 a month net on £30000, so I lost £478 by taking this amount out of the savings account and investing it in Premium Bonds.
I wouldn't buy any again - although I wouldn't be saying that if I had won the jackpot, but what are the odds of that, in the future if I want to play the lottery, I will do it at the weekend for £1 a go!0 -
I got £1 Premium Bond as a christening present in 1959 and it has never won a penny.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.

Against my better judgment I have had 5k in PB's since March this year. Have won sweet FA so far.
To be honest I do not see them as a serious investment/savings vehicle, more like a bit of fun.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
My grandparents gave me £50 worth of PBs when I was born. Since then I have recieved £50, aged 4 and then £50 a few decades later0

I am another one going to cash in my pb's. Have had pb's for over 25 years now in varying amounts sometimes a few hundred sometimes full holding but only win 50 or 100 now and again. Had one "BIG" win of 500 few years ago. I know people say they like the thrill of maybe winning a big prize one month but i am starting to get depressed when i check and find yet again i havent won, especially when as happened this month soneone who only had 300 in bonds (and only purchased them six months ago) wins 100,000! Some people are just very very lucky, unfortunately i am not one of them so will be cashing in.0

My DS has had £1300 in PB's for the last 2 years. He (or me as he's under 16!) has never won a penny. But the way I look at it is, the £1300 is still there, if it was in a bank account I'd have been down the bank and withdrawn it by now and spent it all on bits'n'bobs and have nothing to show for it. It's a bit of fun and the money's safe from his spendaholic mum!:hello:0

I bought £30,000 worth of bonds last January and I still haven't won anything, not even a miserly fifty quid. WHAT'S GOING ON - I think I have about average luck, haven't broken any mirrors or walked under any ladders. With average luck NS&I say you have a one in twenty four chance of winning. So by my reckoning I should have won about five and a half prizes by now.
It seems that a lot of people in Havering seem to win so I am starting to think there is a bit of a fiddle going on.
However, if it is all down to luck I am getting a bit jittery about going outside. I didn't realise how unlucky I am.
Can't they send non winners some money just to be nice even just a fiver or something. When I entered my cat into a cat show and she was the only cat that didn't win anything :embarasse (something to do with her being an applehead ), the show organisers gave her a present of 12 cans or Gourmet cat food as a consolation prize...0 -
I have a reasonable holding and have won about 8 prizes of £50 this year but I think that if you have no other savings, premium bonds are a complete waste of money since your investment is depreciating every month with rising inflation. I think you're really better off saving the money in a high interest deposit account, but then we all like the thought of having a nice surprise one day, don't we?0

Got the max and until May done fine with them...since nothing. Thing i find annoying is that although they have raised the payouts as interest rates have risen they have stuck with the 24000 to 1 ratio so the number of large wins has increased when i would have rather seen the number of £50 and £100 being increased. IF rates go up again on Thursday i hope they look to change this as % returns are becoming skewed.0
