I think perhaps you are getting "too much into" comping. I always enjoy any win I have big or small, but it's not the be all and end all of my life. Just enter competitions for things you would like then just wait and see. I know how your situation can make even little things seem like major problems and the world is against you but it isn't. I'll probably get trouble for this but have you been referred to a cognative therapist?

I guess you're right. Another reason I entered competitions is because I thought from winning It would make me feel better about myself whilst getting stuff for free since I have a low income atm. But it's done the opposite, I get so angry when I see the other girl win a competition we both entered. It's not fair and it p**ses me off. But I'm so bored I get depressed so I needed a hobby so I'm kinda in limbo.

There are lots of things you can do to help lift your mood that are free - I know they don't always work... Going for a walk, taking a bath, reading a good book (you can even get those for free online / very cheap at charity shops)... Let those things be the things you use to lift you, not 'proper' hobbies (I know reading is a hobby of sorts). Where you are right now, it's probably dangerous to link hobbies with feeling better about yourself, because when they don't do that, you'll just resent them, and a hobby is supposed to be something that you enjoy.

You have lots of stuff going on for you at the moment: do not underestimate the power that anxiety is having over your mood. It is the anxiety that is p*ssing you off when the other girl on Twitter wins comps, the anxiety that is annoyed you're not winning.

I do think you should think about blogging - I've seen several people blog their way through anxiety and depression. It's a healthy means of expression, and will hopefully result in you gaining followers who will remind you you're not alone, and help you feel better about yourself and more self-confident.

Feel free to PM me, if you want to discuss the effects of the anxiety on your comping, etc, and I will always listen :) Also, if you want me to look at your Twitter feed to help reassure you you're doing everything you can, feel free to PM me the link to your feed :)

I haven't mentioned this on here before but I have a bad case of OCD among other things so if I feel a bit threatened by comping I take action and my son takes charge of my laptop. I know that sounds a bit drastic but comping can be a bit compulsive. Please don't let it get to you, I really enjoy comping, it's a good hobby if used on a level where you're not obsessed with winning.

I used to win a fair bit but I haven't won anything at all for maybe 18 months.

it hasn't helped that Martin has added comping for cash in his tips, since then the number of people entering comps has gone up, meaning lower odds of winning.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.
  • Keep trying with Twitter. I've entered about 3,000 twitter comps and won 6 things. All small, but wins nonetheless. You will win eventually.

With twitter, make sure you're following the company and retweet the correct competition tweet.

    Keep going and good luck.

just wanted to give you a big hug xx

There will always be prizes we all have our eye on which other people win, and in turn we will get a nice win which someone else wanted.

I would try and not let comping become such a job/chore for you as your putting yourself under unneccesary pressure. If your entering and enjoying entering i'd carry on and have fun but if its making you so unhappy maybe it isn't the hobby for you. I agree with the above suggestions have a nice alk, read a good book, maybe even see if there ae support groups in your area to help offer you frienship and guidence for oyu issues

I understand as I suffer with mental health issues too, depresion, slef harming, anxiety and eating disorders. I am controlling them at the moment but they are alwasy there. all my energy currently goes into my career which helps take my mind off things

wishing you lots of love xxx
:j First prizes back into comping after a break - romantic break to 2 to Venice/ Paris or Rome with romantic trip and a 42 inch TV and blu Ray amazing !

Thank you all so much and good luck guys and girls xxxxxx
  • I've been very lucky enough to win a fair few things via twitter, however, I've never won any competition outside twitter (from facebook, websites, rafflecopter - nada!)

I understand where you are coming from, I see several people continually winning but instead of feeling annoyed at them for winning, why not congratulate them? Think and be positive!

I know it's hard at the moment, I've been where you've been but good things will come to you! I comped for around 3 years straight whilst I was at uni and didn't win a single thing! But I just stopped for a while and tried again a year later.

Some people do win more because of their blogger 'status' it would be silly to deny it, but if the companies chose to pick these ladies again and again to win, it's not their fault.

Remember - don't hate the player, hate the game.

I wish you all the best of luck in the future! Keep comping and good luck.

I love to see other people winning. It gives me hope that it can happen to me.

The only time I sometimes feel a pang of disappointment is when the free postcode lottery is at £200+ and then someone wins it. After almost three years of checking that site everyday, one day it will have to me lol
