Ah, I see. I read it as OP mentioned unemployment as a reason she had time on her hands not that she thought she 'deserved to win'. I think she was just wondering if she was missing a trick somewhere. I'm glad I don't do Twitter comps - they don't seem very straightforward to me![/QUOTE]
I do feel like I'm missing a trick, exactly! There has got to be something she does or something about her profile that just works or stands out, my theory is the fact she has a blog and shes a fairly attractive girl but I don't know.0 -

I have had six wins *checks my tracker* and have entered 4781 comps in approx 4 weeks. Not just on twitter of course. Personally, I believe just to be luck, pure and simple. My favourite win is a book signed by Tony Robinson. Worth 5.99 and probably the least valuable of all wins, but Tony Robinson rules and grew up with him, starting with maid marion when I was a nipper, and then time team.
I guess my point is, in a round-a-bout way is don't enter to win. Treat it as the hobby it is. Then - if and when you get the WEM or knock on the door from the postie, it'll be much sweeter.
Yeah maybe I should just treat it as though its my job or something, just something I have to do everyday and not think about winning, maybe get on with something else after and forget about it lol Then winning will just be a pleasant surprise.0 -

Do you really want to spend your life like that ? I think CreditCrunchie pretty much summed it up.0 -

Those who are able to enjoy comping most are the people who can get excited at the thought of entering. For example, if I enter a holiday comp I like the sound of, I'll have a look on Tripadvisor at the hotel and a mooch round the net looking at pictures etc. That in itself gives me a frisson of hope that maybe I'll win.
I'm not convinced that starting comping is the best new hobby for someone who has anxiety. Until you win, you're always going to be panicking and worrying about doing things wrong / why you're not winning etc. Also, treating it like a job is likely to be pretty destabilising as well: if you could treat it like a job, you'd be able to do a real job, and right now you're not well enough to.
I suffer with anxiety and depression, but started comping when my mental health was better. I only survive the anxious "Why am I not winning?" days by reminding myself of the previous wins I've had.0 -
Do you just tweet comps? If so, write tweets about other stuff too.
Also (and I don't know if this has helped or not or if it's just coincidence) this year I started entering Twitter comps just before they close. I've had more Twitter wins this year than last year and the year before put together.2019 Wins

I have a separate twitter just for competitions so yes.
I've done that, makes no difference thoughHave you won more twitter comps because of this new approach?

I guess you're right. Another reason I entered competitions is because I thought from winning It would make me feel better about myself whilst getting stuff for free since I have a low income atm. But it's done the opposite, I get so angry when I see the other girl win a competition we both entered. It's not fair and it p**ses me off. But I'm so bored I get depressed so I needed a hobby so I'm kinda in limbo.0 -

There's got to be a reason it can't be just down to 'luck'.
I think it is down to luck and the more you enter the more chance you have of winning.
I have won more from Twitter than any other social media, but I have won nothing from FaceBook, the next person will come along and say they have won loads from FaceBook and nothing from Twitter.
I seem to win at the beginning and end of the month very little in the middle, others will win more mid month.
Give Twitter a rest and try FaceBook comps, they reckon a change is as good as a rest.
Enter as many comps a day as you can, you have to be in it to win it.“I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel
