... I like calculations!
I checked my bill and both the unit and daily rates quoted on the website do include VAT.
I like calculations too, and playing about with spreadsheets. It takes only a little knowledge to create a simple SS where you can enter your readings whenever you like and see what you owe them or they owe you.
The gas Calorific Value is an unknown and variable quantity but if you use the one quoted on you last bill, (probably that's with your last supplier), or the one in the previous post, you won't be more than a pound or 2 out.0 -

How to calculate your gas usage:
Subtract previous reading from current reading.
Multiply this number by 2.8317 (if your meter is imperial, if metric miss out this step.
Multiply resulting number by calorific value (39.4813).
Multiply result by meter correction factor 1.02264.
Divide result by 3.6 to convert to KwH.
Multiply times the rate per KwH for gas.
Calculate number of days * standing day rate for gas.
How to calculate your electricity usage:
Subtract previous reading from current reading.
Multiply * rate per KwH for electricity.
Calculate number of days * standing day rate for electricity.
Add all up. Multiply times 1.05 to add VAT.

Chas and Molerat, thank you. I love that site with the calorific values, and yes I am sad enough to do the average calculation just for fun!“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

I had emailed them regarding the bill and got a reply back 11 days ago saying the bill will be out in the next 10 days.
Today I enquired about the bill and I was initially told the bill was generated last week and should receive it in the next 7 days.
Sounds vaguely familiar somehow :rotfl:0 -
I had my final and only bill 11 days ago and was persuaded to ask them to deduct the penalty fees, given the poor service. Contacted them last Thursday and customer advisor told me he would pass on my request to complaints handler MB, who I have spoken to before. I followed that conversation up on the 15th via email to MB and told her I want to pay the bill immediately. I was thinking, as in the past, that customer service would hang up and do nothing about it. Guess what - not heard a thing. They don't even get a move on when someone wants to pay the bill - (minus the exit fees of course).Holding back the years...0

Switched away from them a few weeks ago. No final bill, chased them again today. Fortunately I owe them.
Giving them another week then I'm cancelling my DD; they can hardly cut me off as they don't supply me any longer. If they ever bill me I'll pay, but I get a feeling there's a good chance they won't. I'll quite miss them in a way; use their incompetence to your own advantage. Don't know why people complain about not getting bills !0 -

According to my online account I somehow now have a nil balance, it shows that they have taken the balance by DD, even though I cancelled it. I then looked at my bank account statement on line and it doesn't appear. In trying to take the full balance they have completely ignored my requests to refund the exit fees. Surely if the DD was cancelled they can't take the money :think:Holding back the years...0 -
I switched from extra energy on the 23rd Feb 2015, I was told I would have a seamless switching experience. Well it has definitely been that. When I left them 4 months ago I was in credit to them for £787.01. My final bill will work out to be about £26. Only problem is NO FINAL BILL? I could be in the warm sunny sunshine somewhere on that sort of money.
Anyone else in this sort of predicament?
I made an official complaint but they have 8 weeks to sort it before I can get help from the ombudsman, sigh that should be the summer long gone.:(0 -
My switch is going through, however I'm currently in £500 credit. The problem I have is, I've not lived there so will be in close to £500 (or more if not done by next payment) credit once moved.
Raised a complaint 2 weeks ago after being promised I'd get the DD reduced. Was also told last week bill is on its way and will be online by latest Monday.
Will let you guess the rest. How they can get away with just sitting on people's money is beyond me.0 -
I'd also be very careful about the so called exit fees wavier promises being made.
I was told these would be waived but today, after chasing for the bill that should have been here I was told they don't waive fees.
Oh yes but they have raised yet another complaint for me.0
