Well surprise surprise received a letter today saying I have not provided
enough information. I sent 3 bank statements and my p60. But no
they want confirmation of child benefit to. Even with this I am not earning
enough so why request it. Never had to provide it before it is only
child benefit that everyone is entitled to if you earn under 40k grr.

Because its Erudios policy to make it as difficult as possible even if it makes zero sense. Every person who defers is a cash cow lost to them so they do every thing they can to put you off and use every possible excuse.

I recently paid off my student loan in full to the SLC. My wife's loans have been sold to Erudio and she is interested in doing the same but is getting nowhere.

With SLC I phoned up and asked for a settlement balance; they knew what this meant and gave me a figure and told me how long this offer would last.

My wife has phoned Erudio twice. The first time she was told "we can't do this yet, it will take a couple of months to sort out after taking over the loans". The second (today) she got some total numpty who had no idea what a settlement figure was, read out different numbers each time and asked my wife at least 5 times if she wanted to set up a direct debit (she has one, she's been making monthly payments for years) and then hung up after refusing to pass the call to a supervisor or disclose her name/ID so a complaint could be made.

Does anyone now how this is supposed to work? There's seemingly no online access like SLC had so we have no trust in anything they tell us over the phone and would hesitate to make a one-off payment in case they lose it!

I thought the ability to request a settlement figure in writing was a requirement, does anyone know because we're not sure we can face trying to phone up again!

ps: I found this thread from Google, only just noticed Student Money Saving forum section... should I re-post there instead since this one seems to focus on deferments?

Yes the agreement terms specifically say that you are entitled to pay the loan off at any time you like and they they will issue a written settlement statement on request.

    Section 7 of the agreement.

I have it on good authority that if you have a loan with thesis servicing and Erudio then the SLC will continue to process deferments for ALL loans.
In a way if your loan was sold off to thesis (aka link financial) you are one of the lucky ones as you only have to deal with the SLC!!!!

I have 2 loans with Honours Student loans and 2 with Eurido- I received my deferment pack this week from the SLC - I was under the impression that Eurido were also going to send me a deferment pack - however the SLC forms list all 4 loans.

Am totally confused now- ive sent the forms back to the SLC - is this enough to defer all 4 loans?

Why cant they make things simple!

Is that using the same SLC forms we've always had?

As far as I've been made aware, if you have loans spread over 2 or more companies SLC will continue to do the deferments for ALL of them in one go.

Makes sense, otherwise they would risk the unacceptable position where you were refused by one and accepted by the other on the same evidence. Only way to avoid such a mess is to have SLC do cases were there are 2 or more companies to defer with.

Yes they are the same forms from the SLC in Glasgow in the same format that I have always had, if this is correct then it makes it easier for me, I did call Eurido and they said they would send a pack out- then this arrives from SLC- assume this pack had nothing to do with My call to eurido and SLC were in the process of sending the pack anyway.

SLC would not be able to apply different criteria dependant on who owns the loan, so must be the SLC forms for both. Anything else would again be lunacy.

They had a query on my deferment application. I initially supplied them with a fully signed form and three month wage slips. After the query, I then emailed wage slips since last June and bank statements.

I haven't heard anything from them for weeks now.

However, today they just tried to take 60.85 from my account

Of course, I have cancelled this direct debt with my bank.

I have a lot on at the moment so I really don't have time to be dealing with these clowns as well. :(

If you have little time then write a brief letter of formal complaint or ring the FOS and ask them to do it for you. Then the ball is in Erudio's hands and time starts ticking on when you can go ahead and take things to the FOS for a final complaint they can look at.

I hope you get a decent reply from your MP. Perhaps the one plus for us is that now might be the best time to write to our MPs. With their eyes on the general election next year, they're more likely to want to be seen to be responsive to queries and concerns from their constituents.... Perhaps less so for those of us in safe seat areas but it's still the best time to contact them.

Good luck getting a good reply from your MP, I wrote to mine and got a reply to the effect that I was monopolising their time as I had rasied several requests for assistance with them within the previous couple of weeks on various matters - the fact that the problems existed in the first place and needed MP intervention seemed irrelevant, but thats another soapbox for another day. My MP won't raise the matter with Erudio, the FOS for David Willets, but that doesn't say that other MPs won't if you write to them. Worth a try, and good luck!
