Natalie look into an adult learning grant, it isn't much and it is discretionary but the college can help you apply for it.
Have you applied for income support and council tax credit ? Have a word with your local council.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Hi everyone Hi Natalie, Glad you are back on line and posting. Have followed the thread from the beging and found it very interesting. One thing, amongst many,I feel about it is that although I wouln't wish the circumstances on anyone, I do feel how much it has made me aware of how difficult it is to get around the"benefits"maize. I am shure many will be helped by reading your problems and the ways you have dealt with them has been amazing. Good Luck(and keep posting) jac.xx0

hi everyone .ive been to the dwp the out come is the reason i was turned down was because 1 the doctor declared me unfit for work and 2 im starting college so for now im going to be claiming income support as im in college .im not going to be entitled to ema but will get a bus pass through the dwp
they mentioned some grants to me for college essentials etc and are sending me a budgeting loan form out i thought they didnt do them anymore but they must do
so my claim will be started from today shes unsure of payments but its going to be a rapid reclaim and should be sorted fairly quick thankfully
im going to google about grants etc now she mentioned a clothing grant aswell but said i apply for a budgeting loan i can requesting clothing through that .feel much better now ive sorted it out and no where i stand xx0 -
Sounds good Natalie. One thing though... my understanding is that a grant you don't pay back, but a loan obviously, you do. Might be worth checking that out, as if you can get a clothing grant, (and that doesn't need to be paid back) it would be a better option than having it included in a loan.0

Do you know much about these grants by any chance? Like if you have to be on certain benefits?0 -

Nat, ask at the college finance dept., as they may have some sort of hardship grant from them you may be able to apply for.
