Well done - if others from the past are a lost cause its better to look forward and focus on meeting new and interesting people who can be part of your new life. And studying will make you a great role model for your son (though you are already!).Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

Thanks for updating Natalie - I didn't want to doubt you but I did send a PM asking if you'd received the egg and didn't get a response, maybe the site was playing up though, must have just been bad timing. I've been burnt before when it comes to generosity but I'm glad in this instance it wasn't misguided.
I'm glad you're ok, that's exciting news about college! I hope you enjoy it and feel like it's something new and interesting for you to focus on.
Good luck xx0 -

thankyou everyone xx
Good for you. I'm hoping to go back to college too, you'll be busy lol.
Good luck for the court case. Yes he should be held accountable, get him prosecuted lol.
If you are ever stuck again in the future please don't think you can't come back on the threads for advice, there are some people on here that are really cynical but there's also loads of people that want to help.
Speak soon xx0 -

I dont think it as appropriate for those who sent money and gifts to mention it on the thread.
There was no need for it when we have a perfectly good PM system, and it wouldn't surprise me if Natalie was horribly embarrassed by it.
A gift should be given freely with no strings, and it shouldn't mean that the recipient is obliged to become friends, or obliged to continue updates.
Also..
If somebody asks for advice they are not under any obligation to take it.
Maybe it was a scam?
We have no way of knowing, but you cant very well send gifts against the advice of the forum support team and then complain about it!
One thing is for sure.. If this poor girl is ever desperate again she will have been put right off asking for help and so will others!

If you choose to help anyone out on the web you should do it to give help and not to do it for anything in return (just like in real life).
Are there scammers out there- yes but so long as you did the right thing -if it turns out you were tricked.....in the big picture does it really matter? If you let those fears allow you to not help next time -then that little bit of help that makes a massive difference to someone who could be in genuine need will be lost.
A few years ago there was a massive scam on a fan website I was on. A woman introduced herself to the group -then had tragedy befall her first the death of her son then her own cancer diagnosis. She was smart -never directly asked for anything - she didn't need to people were compassionate and generous. She actually met some people from the site......and even cried in front of them.
When it all came out -her son discovered his mother had not only cheated people but told them he was dead -and as she'd used her work email and run the scam from her desk at work she was also sacked.
Some people were very angry and hurt they had been taken for fools - but the thing was ..... no matter how rubbish HER motives were - THEIR's were good and kind and the fact they were duped didn't take away from the good things they had done and the kind spirit it was offered in. It said far more about them than it did about her.
OP I'm really glad things are working out for you .......and I hope one day you'll pay forward the generosity people offered here and help someone else and that you'll forget the attitude of the minority who made a mistake in their judgements.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
