I haven't been able to read your whole thread OP and apologies if this has already been suggested. But regarding food. Have you a local Tescos near you? I ask this as a friend of mine was struggling and challenged herself to feed herself and 3 children on Tescos own brands. And the amount she was able to buy for £20 was unbelievable! So much so that now she's back on her feet she still does the same shop. From tinned potatoes, carrots, soap, peas, coke, custard, toothbrushes, spaghetti, toilet roll and even multipack crisps for the children, she was able to get them for less than 60p each. 4 Yoghurts for 33p etc. Teabags are 27p
When I found out just how much she was struggling I was cross she didn't ask me for help, but she was embarrassed, and she said once she found the tesco online shop, she made a list of what she could buy, and took note of the prices and then went to the store herself and looked for them. She found it easy enough to feed her and the children for less than £20 a week.
She now orders it all online.
I have to admit I now buy their cheaper brands also, including their 27p teabags. As she said herself afterwards, beggars can't be choosers and she couldn't be fussy on what she was buying.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
Yes Tesco will deliver for £1 in the week now too - but only if order of over £25 I think.
Their cheap teabags are a bit tasteless but its worth trying all their own brands as I have the cornflakes for 33p and bran flakes for 88p.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
Hi not to good today feeling really down and worried About things
My electric went yesterday and my aunt promised to transfer some money to me as I couldn't find anything else to sell but she didn't do it just txt me this morning saying she couldn't help .and a bit worried I recieved about a million letters from the dwp yesterday afternoon all saying different things and it's tax credits due to be paid this week I rang the helpline to confirm yesterday she said I'm in this payment cycle but she thinks my payday is Thursday from what it says on the system I flaming hope not
Ringing dwp tommorow and of to cab again as they advised me to complain about how I've been left
Yes have a tesco right near me and have already thought about dropping brands etc when I can finally go shopping
I think online is a better idea then your not sucked jn by the deals they offer .i have an aldi to which I'm told is fab so I'll be trying there xx0 -

It's not problems as such I think I'm just feeling down I've not really cried proper over everything that's happened in these last few weeks and think now it's hitting me like a train
Going over to the park later with my son so he can have a ride round on his scooter and a kick about
Seeing his smile cheers me up no end
We went to the library yesterday and he got some books he lives reading so he wants to read one to me later xx0 -
Bless you Natalie. I really don't understand how your aunt can leave you like this, knowing you now have no electric
Surely if she has no money she could of invited you both to stay over, if I was close by you would have been here in a flash and I don't even know you.
Sent you a pm x0 -

Yes good to get out in the fresh air for both of you.
See the CAB tomorrow and show them all the letters to see if they can help sort it for you.
Yes very bad of aunt to promise and then not do it.
Hope you enjoy the cuddle and the reading - thats a nice time together isn't it?Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0
