No rugs, stains is good idea, it's laminate.
No cupboards/innards for clothes. Only cupboards are kitchen ones.
Ah, cooker hood is the only one - never used one, hope the EA knows how that goes on.
I noticed in the photo living room has no bulb or shade at all.... if that turns out to be those eco ones I'd have a rewire done.
I don't think it is. It's an over the bath contraption.
Got a floorplan on the details.
No curtains, so checking all that lot - I'll have expanding poles/nets for day 1.
Manuals - will have to assume, owner not present.
You can download a surprising number of manuals for household equipment in much the same way as for printers.
e.g. http://www.centralheating.co.uk/Boiler-Manuals/potterton-boiler-manuals
Thinks for a moment, I'm probably the last person on this thread to have realised this. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Well, back. Tricky to do/see much as [a] agent's hovering ... and it was all packed and stacked up ... clearly living among the boxes stage. It's a lot, lot smaller than I remembered - but I expected that as I've said before I can't visualise, so always visualise space 50% larger in all directions.
Got some measurements, spotted some nasty thistles/ivy that want clearing and a bit of bush pruning needed ....
I did see there's an extractor in the bathroom and flicked on the light and it didn't come on; agent said "other button" .... and there's an isolator switch and it was turned to off.... odd place to put it though as I'd need a stepladder to reach it
I now need to find an expanding curtain pole that expands to at least 266cm (105") .... to quickly shove up at the patio doors when I move in..... which I suspect might not exist. I've been searching before I had the measurements and largest I found (at cheap prices) was 260cm http://www.qssupplies.co.uk/bathroom-furniture-shower-taps/19006.htm at £14 +P&P.
Bit late in the day, but I might enquire if she wants to sell the curtain poles to save me a job of sourcing/fitting some......
Found two expanders on ebay for £9.... so they do exist/affordably.0 -
Vendors who take the curtain poles are annoying. :mad:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
He was bored with it, they were still doing the same stuff that he had been doing in 6th form. Plus, he realised that his career potential wasn't great as he wants to be a teacher and the vacancies available for the degree he was doing was really quite tiny.
He has switched to psychology and sociology (another 2 of his A levels) and his deadline for finance is fine, this switch has been underway for quite a few weeks now...or so he assures me!
Has he investigated the job market for these subjects? I know they're very popular subjects but mainly in sixth forms, which some schools don't have..
I can't say I'm impressed by the way schools prepare students for choosing careers. I've always suspected that in many cases there's precious little advice or guidance being given. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

They are ... unless you've got somebody instantly available, for free, with tools, who is capable of putting another one up.
I've got to [a] measure find/choose [c] find a handyman to put it up.
To me it's "just a pole", nothing special.
It means, really, that you can't just move in as you've no curtains for days/weeks.0 -

My DD went to UCL - there, and at Edinburgh, you had to have a modern foreign language GCSE, whatever the degree you planned. Plenty of schools don't know/care that this is the case. She did Law, Psychology and History A levels and they weren't considered the "best" subjects - other than History.
A friend's daughter is planning to do PE, Biology, Economics and Business Studies - I told her that Economics and Business Studies should not be done together, as plenty of universities will consider then too similar to count as two separate qualifications. Her school had said nothing.
Too many schools just let students do whatever courses they want, with no guidance. By the time they find out the pitfalls it's too late.0 -
Pastures, if you get really stuck, the plaster should hold the little screws that you get for curtains and you can screw in yourself using the eyelet. Nets and the wire are lightweight and therefore unlikely to fall down. At least that would give you privacy if you can't source something else and can't initially use tension rods. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? At first I didn't know what you meant, but now I know. I'm really cack handed .... and wouldn't trust myself to get those right0 -
I've missed the big news, pn. Is this a house or a flat?
Have the curtain poles already been taken down?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
