I suppose it depends where you think "London" is. To Zone 1'ers it's just Harrods/Buck House. To others it's up to the M25 ... and to the rest of the country it's Herts, Surrey, Middesex ... and more.

... the most southern section of the Lea Valley Walk follows the Limehouse Cut - a quiet, traffic-free route through the bustle and noise of East London - down to the River Thames at Limehouse Basin (section 5). If preferred walkers can continue along the River Lea from Three Mills to East India Quay on the Meridian Alternative (section 6).

I'd guess Lea Valley too. My former boss was a gamesmaker at the Olympics and he could cycle in down the Lea Valley. Further up, there's the Olympic white water course. It's now open to the public, though by all accounts the difficulty has been taken down a notch or two.

Could also be the Regents Canal.

I've been listening to the Kaiser Chiefs too. Love's not a Competition (But I'm Winning) isn't their best song but it's a great song title!

Apologies for talking football again, hopefully gen will find this interesting.

I was curious as to who commentates on football in Aus as in spite of the level of the game, there are so many knowledgeable fans.

On the commentary here, there was discussion as to whether Spain are too old, whether the attacking midfielder system has had its day and whether Torres should even have made the squad. Lots of criticism of Casillas who clearly had a stinker, but imo his defence barely turned up. Lots of comments 're the number of cards picked up too.

It's looking like Man U have made a stunning manager pick too, given his links to players on both sides. They talked to him before the game and he takes a very holistic approach to management and growing players which sounded very refreshing.

Gen, enjoy the lamb and choc pud. I've been a veggie for 30+ years now but still recall lamb with mint sauce with fondness. Hopefully you're feeling a bit better today that you're up to doing it. Here's hoping you can taste it and that angels can dance on your tongue.

Final viewing.... apart from some measurements, turning taps on, opening all kitchen drawers/cupboard doors, opening all windows (check they open), checking for manhole cover locations in the garden ..... what else would you do?

I wouldn't do half of that. What are you going to say if one cupboard door is loose or a window won't open? And the manhole locations??

Ask them whether they are leaving the curtain rails, ask them when the bins are collected, what the neighbours are like, where the meters are.

Check the windows all lock too?

The main one is imagine all those plans you have for 'when I've bought' being that much closer :)

I didn't do a very good job of doing the final checks before I got the keys to here :o

Checking windows is good, I'd also check for glade plug ins etc as they would be a sign of masking smells, lift rugs to check for stains, check cupboard innards so you know whether you have shelves or rails for clothes, check extractor fans, checks bath and basins for any chips... nothing insurmountable but all good to know in advance. Also I made a note of the ceiling fittings as I replaced some of mine quickly as they required expensive bulbs or were expensive to run.

If you've got an electric shower make sure it runs warm... I can't think of anything else, take a pad and several pens and pencils so you can draw layout if you want. If curtains are not being left, check width and depth so you can replace easily if ready made. Also ask if they are leaving manuals for anything.

If it's new, it will almost certainly have extractor in the bathroom and toilet if you have a separate one. These are often high switches on the wall and come on when you switch the lights on. If they don't, flick the switch and turn on the lights. That way you'll know if they are noisy/rattly. Even if it is, it's not an urgent fix, particularly if you can open a window to drain.
