Really chuffed at work today. We have annual staff awards in my organisation, with a number of categories.
Each category is initially judged within each part / region of the organisation, and then the regional winners for each category are considered nationally against each other.
My manager nominated me for Outstanding Team Member, and I've won the regional bit:T
I doubt I'll win the national one, as those always go to people in other parts of the organisation, but as I said I'm really chuffed.
Well done! So nice to be appreciated and have some recognition for a job well done.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
This might not be the thing to say to you right now but there is a funny side to that story, Mr Self-Righeous being put firmly in his place via an excruciatingly embarassing (for him) response.....
Good point but I may take a little time to really start appreciating the funny side of it at the moment...give me a few days and it will make a great anecdote to tell peopleWe made it! If you fail at appeal, unless you can gather local support, that's the end for the forseeable future. Once the planning officers get their big win, they'll sit back with their feet on the table and watch you.
I still think go small as is possible and get anything if there's a chance. I'd rather appeal with small than big.
Thanks DG, also spoke to an agent today or thinks we could make a 80k profit just by selling it now 6 months later which puts another possibility into the mix. This one is in fact on a mirror image site 2 roads away (possibly slightly smaller site and they have built something bigger than we are proposing) and it got through palnning having ben turned down (for something even bgger) at appeal the year before....

Today I am feeling quite good, because...
a) I survived my observed lesson on Tuesday. My troublesome Y10 behaved better than usual, my "try doing it differently with no idea whether it will work or not" strategy worked fine, and my HoD seemed to be pleased with it.
b) The marking marathon of past papers for exam classes is over. They are all on exam leave now. Teaching non-exam classes is over too. Non-exam classes have internal exams to do, but not until next week, so I have no marking until Tuesday.
c) I survived delivering an inset session to other teachers this morning, and apparently several of them have told other people that they liked it and it was helpful.
d) The imminence of my compensation pay-out is strangely making me feel "less stressed" about money, despite not having been at all stressed about it previously. Almost as though it's causing me a minus amount of stress.
I don't know how long the current good feeling will last, but I am enjoying it while it does. Also, the prospect of taking DD to be treated by an eminent (and very expensive) therapist (although not at my expense) raises the possibility of asking somebody a lot more knowledgeable than my GP about whether I ought to be seeking treatment and if so from whom, which feels like a slight lessening of the "stuck" feeling.vivatifosi wrote: »I don't like bananas.
I like bananas if they are raw, and on the point of becoming ripe but not much past that point. I do not like them overripe, or things cooked with bananas (like banana cake) or synthetic banana flavouring.
Are bananas the new mushrooms? How many NP have strong feelings one way or the other about them?lostinrates wrote: »Basically, I just want a fridge. And a kettle ( until those recent posts) , and preferably some glasses and crockery and cutlery. But you know.......I'd make do with out those last three. And now maybe hot drinks. If I can have booze again anyway.
For a holiday to which you drive, you can take your own kettle. For a holiday to which you don't take your own car and can't take much luggage, you can probably buy a cheap kettle when you get there and leave it behind when you come home.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

A pompous director (ex public school twit) once spotted me carrying a brown paper bag in my hand bag and brayed loudly to a meeting "what's that? Box of chocs?".
"Box of tampax" I replied. I got applause.0 -

Well done Yorkie!I think what I fell into was the canal, all I found was the abandoned shopping trolley with a wonky wheel! And as much as I tried, I couldn't get it to go in a straight line.
I was in the pool, a long long time ago as a student. I caught a promising fish whose massive hidden flaws I didn't discover until later. Now there is no pool anywhere near my normal life, but maybe there are ways of finding the pool (online????) when I have enough energy to make the effort.Normally I would have been fine but I have been struggling mood wise for the last few months, so I am more susceptible to being unnerved by something trivial or downright scared/stressed about something less trivial!
Sorry you are in such a down phase, Sue. Is there anything us NP can do to help? Remember we are always here if you need to vent etc. And we can send dodgy hugs: :grouphug:On youngest and the exam front, we have reached a peak this week for additional miles, I feel like I have spent all of this week in the car going to and from the two sites and home, so thankyou so much for all who have helped, goodness knows what I would have done without it.
Glad we could at least slightly make up for the various people who've let you down about that, Sue. Was my calculation in the right ball park????Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
