A while ago I got a voucher for a special deal on an ovem cleaning service, so I thought I'd give it a go. It was amazing. The bloke turned up with special solvents etc and a great big thing that slid out at the back of his van - like a sink but only half the depth and twice as long and wide, so that the shelves would fit in flat. He did his thing, I paid him, and when he had left the oven looked quite literally as though it was new and had never been used.

I got the oven man in when we bought this house. Living with or cleaning off my own food debris is one thing, the idea of someone else's food debris flavouring my cooking was too much.

Sod the oven man, I bought a new oven.

Everytime I opened the door, I smelt someone else's roast dinner fat. Thoroughly unpleasant, had to go.

I don't think I ever found the pool.... I think I was in deep open water as I only found sharks.

I think what I fell into was the canal, all I found was the abandoned shopping trolley with a wonky wheel! And as much as I tried, I couldn't get it to go in a straight line.

I saw some people in Tesco on Sunday who bought more bananas than I'd ever seen anyone buy. Probably a good 60 or 70.

    banana wine is my guess.

What is this thing you're all talking about - "cleaning the oven" ?:p :o :A
I've always wished I was the physical, outdoor type, who liked gardening .... it's a high rate of pay for what's essentially "not much work". But I'm a weak wuss who hates creepy crawlies and worms.

Me too. Gloves are a wonderful invention ;):D

Some advise keeping the term the same and just keeping payments same (so overpaying) as if for some reason you want to pay less you then can but once the term is reduced it is treated as a new application to increase it agian (did that make sense?)

I agree. I'm overpaying now but keeping the term the same so that at the end of my fix I will still have 16 years to pay off the remaining amount - at a low monthly repayment if need be.

Have to say, that puts me off self catering holidays a little too. Though the kind of self catering I'd be doing would be very on the light side....more......drove to bakes, drove to cheese makers, drove to market, out in fridge, heaped on table. Compile for breakfast and lunch. Find someone else to cook supper somewhere else or eat street food when this is not sufficient.

Basically, I just want a fridge. And a kettle ( until those recent posts) , and preferably some glasses and crockery and cutlery. But you know.......I'd make do with out those last three. And now maybe hot drinks. If I can have booze again anyway.

However, having local wine or champagne for breakfast might make driving in to a local town for supper unwise.

    Hmmm.

Rethink holiday priorities on the cards.

I've never even heard of that before.

The educational value of this thread knows no bounds. The size of the universe and banana wine all in a couple of days.

Really chuffed at work today. We have annual staff awards in my organisation, with a number of categories.

Each category is initially judged within each part / region of the organisation, and then the regional winners for each category are considered nationally against each other.

My manager nominated me for Outstanding Team Member, and I've won the regional bit :D :T

I doubt I'll win the national one, as those always go to people in other parts of the organisation, but as I said I'm really chuffed. :D

Not a lot of cooking is ever done by my parents self catering guests. Our hob is a flat glass sheet, gets a wipe after each use - 100% dirt free. The ovens not so good especialyl as we use only use the small micro/oven combi oven not the main one and it has a stainless lining rather than a cleanble liner.

Question for DG/other NP. We have shown planner what we thought he said he wanted and he has gone back to 'can not really say' mode which was his default position before. Time for a further amended application for about 600 quid or is that just wasting time and money and straight to appeal for 3k the best option as we may well end up there anyway?
    I think....

I do not think my dd is actively looking, and i haveno idea if she has actively given up. What I do know is that there is no pool. Whoever is out there for her will have to come looking for her. At our house .

Rather bizarrely this actually happened last year when an old friend of hers came over to collect an 'antique' mini tractor we had rotting in our field. Then they made plenty of reasons why they needed to keep coming back/popping in. It progressed to them meeting up after work, dinner out...however he was not as free as he needed to be and DD did not want to be more than old friends .

Lightening unlikely to strike twice though..and her present interests are riding, travel plans, her existing friends and she seems content.
