I have managed to get Josh reading fiction! Even better, he actually likes the book I thought would do it...

It's 1984 by George Orwell, a book I read in 1984 and which left a huge impression on me.

Even better, he didn't want to put the book (well the Ipad grr) down to go to bed, positive signs...although with how things have developed with CCTV and all this monitoring, maybe he likes it because it is not as much of a fiction as it used to be :D
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

It's one of the most important books ever written IMHO. He'll recognise references like Room 101, and Big Brother.

The constant surveillance side of the story seems to be coming true. The fact that all the three main parties and their identikit leaders might as well be merged into one seems disturbing, plus the fact that "Eastasia" and "Eurasia" are throwing their weight around in the South China Seas and Ukraine respectively seems very ominously familiar, while our troops are sent off to the middle east as US support makes you think we're all part of "Oceania" now.

Actually the more I think about it the less I like the comparisons.:o

I have decided one of the best worst things to sY to people is ' a curse upon your plumbing'.

Thus, I say this thinking of spirits boss, for stealing her ideas and being rude to her, may a curse be upon her plumbing.

Her literal, domestic plumbing, or her euphemistic, biological "plumbing"?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Well , I was going for the lesser domestic plumbing.

Anything else seems a bit.....too much.

LJ, grills for ponds are very safe. Not sureI know who'd sell them apart from maybe Homebase/B&Q? More likely a garden centre?

What the heck's wrong with you zag? Why would you want to grill a pond? You'll just end up with hot muddy water. Won't someone think of the fish?

People seem to be increasingly embracing cameras everywhere. Loads of people now routinely record all of their cycling on a Go-Pro in case of being in a hit-and-run accident/road rage incident (depressingly regular occurrences in both the UK and Australia).

However if the pilot was taken I'll, they may have a surplus plane on the ground to start with.

They will do everything in their power to get people home asap, not only because it is good customer service, but also because it is better for their bottom line than having people staying in hotels for long periods.

I think they are running an additional flight today as OH and everyone else has been re-ticketed to a new flight that was not scheduled. With a bit of luck they are taking off about now.

It makes sense that having a plane in the wrong place means they have to fly it back home again, and they may as well do it sooner rather than later if they can get the slots and meet the passenger needs too.

I was horrible to my boss..and did not control my temper..it could be my plumbing that is cursed.

It is quite a good curse though, inflicts inconvenience and possibly expense without real harm.

    Sounds proportionate.

I am thinking of the fish. More precisely what fish I am going to buy at village fishmonger. The stall is open 12-3pm on Thursdays. I am off there about midday.

Flat white delicate? Robust and meaty? Thick and firm and white? Smoked (I always get some smoked haddock). Shellfish..I love scallops, OH has had a bad scallop experience whilst away, so maybe too soon to bring them into the house, King prawns or mussels...I like mussels but knowing they are alive when you start the cooking process puts me off.

Having thought about it..I am no further forward and may just end up choosing what I like the look of. I want three meals worth.. tonight for me, dinner for OH and I tomorrow or sat, and something for the freezer for in the week.
