Congrats to NDB, whatever he ends up being called in real life!

Sorry to hear what happened to you, LIR; must have been unsettling.

    Good luck for tomorrow Gen.

    Congratulations to the neverdespairfamily. _party__party__party_

My brain is scrambled. I have had a 45min 3-way phone call with my solicitor and barrister today, and haven't finished absorbing and processing all the info. None of it is particularly earth-shattering - the position as I understand it isn't markedly different from how I understood it yesterday - but there are a lot of details to get clear in my brain ready for a long meeting on Wednesday. I am not sure I am going to be able to concentrate to teach Y10 tomorrow.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Still no word on my house. I guess I should phone the solicitor tomorrow.... just to let them know I exist.

So far, from the point of view of seeing things happen .... nothing's happened.

You should have searches back by now, the sellers property information form etc.

You're buying with real money, there shouldn't be delays.

    Solicitor needs a butt-kicking.

No, not bad news. Just more details about the way in which this coroner's approach is completely different from the other one's, and more details about exactly what happens at various meetings that nobody had bothered me with while it was all so far in advance, so lots to think about.

Thanks for caring, lir and silvercar.

No, I was on the phone to my dad bringing him up to date with the legal stuff.

My congrats also to famille NDG

What a long week and it is only Monday evening, at work I feel like I get nothing done because I am answering so many requests I don't have time for my 'proper' job then get home do shopping trip, put away, bit of prep, sort out washing machine delivery and plumber for rented house for tomorrow (informed washing machine broken on Saturday, new one should be installed by 11am tomorrow, I think I am not a bad landlord), fetch DDs from brownies, serve dinner, talk to Spanish paying guest, do story for kids, wash up (the dishwasher is broken now as opposed to working but failing to get the dishes clean which is how it had previously been since new), help DW with homework and now read NPT (the last obviously not a chore) - oh and I forgot order jazz shoes for DDs for their drama classes.

It is not surprising I never get time to actually do anything useful.

Edit: forgot, got email from planning consultant, it seems there may be something the planning officer might find acceptable...but I am not sure that I would find it so as it makes it virtually a 2 bed rather than 3 bed. May need to make a decision on whether to appeal soon.
    I think....

I believe when some actual tests were done on these things some years ago, the wooden boards/spoons performed much better than plastic. Wood has some natural bacterial-killing properties left over from when it was a tree that needed to resist bacteria to stay alive. Plastic doesn't. Glass/marble performed better than plastic (because no scratches for stuff to get caught in) but not as well as wood.

Thanks! That's very reassuring. I am a level-headed phobic. I look for ways to sort out phobias and scientific evidence is one of them.

    It really is!

Apologies to everyone, I still haven't caught up with everyone's news from when I was in Copenhagen as there were a lot of posts put up at that time.

Welcome to the world neverdespairaethelbald! Congratulations to all the neverdespairs!

Here's hoping that those nice people going through a not-so-nice time will turn the corner soon.

Good luck tomorrow Gen and LIR.

Get something. If there is an option of something, take it. Then appeal the rejected one. If the appeal is rejected, the planning officers take the most amount of glee in deciding that all future decisions have to be based on that one, regardless of whether the plans change.

Appealing is a huge gamble and if there is the chance of getting a small win first, I strongly suggest you take it. Take what you can get, then fight for more if you want to.
